It’s #MEawarenesshour. I’m tweeting in the hope that if more people are aware of M.E. and the way it devastates lives, more effort and funding will be allocated to investigating and searching for answers. We need an agreed, objective diagnostic test for detailed clinical trials.

What home invasions?? Calling a B & E (yes is a violation but hardly fits the description of home invasion) when the majority occur when the residents are away a home invasion is fear mongering. Property crime is continuing to decline. White collar crime is increasing.

Nathan Cavanaugh Deposition in ACLS-AHA-MLA Lawsuit About the NEH, Part 1 of 6
Nathan Cavanaugh Deposition in ACLS-AHA-MLA Lawsuit About the NEH, Part 1 of 6 YouTube video by American Historical Association

Honestly I need historians to be the plaintiffs in every case I cover because if they make it to discovery you just KNOW those primary sources are going public.

Exhibit A: The American Historical Association uploading video depos of the DOGE bros to YouTube.

This is Nathan Cavanaugh, another DOGE staffer explaining how he flagged grants at NEH for "DEI" which would be reviewed for termination. 404 Media has reviewed hours of this footage and we'll have more soon.

The ADL defended white supremacist, Elon Musk’s, sieg heil Nazi salutes (he did it more than once) at the inauguration, and are using dangerous lies to try to incite hate against someone who was falsely imprisoned by the state for saying people don’t deserve to die based on their ethnicity/religion…

Tweet from ADL, Jan 20, 2025:
“This is a delicate moment. It's a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety.

It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge.

In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath. This is a new beginning. Let's hope for healing and work toward unity in the months and years ahead.”

A black-and-white montage portrait of pioneering American virologist Charlotte Friend (1921–1987), who discovered the Friend leukemia virus and advanced understanding of retroviruses and cancer. The main image shows her in her laboratory, seated at a compound microscope in a research setting lined with shelves of scientific books and journals. She is a middle-aged woman with short, neatly styled dark hair, wearing round-framed eyeglasses, a pearl necklace, and a white lab coat over a patterned blouse with a floral collar. She smiles warmly and confidently at the camera, one hand resting near the microscope's stage, conveying dedication, intelligence, and approachability. In the lower right corner is a smaller inset close-up portrait of a younger Charlotte Friend, smiling brightly with softer features, short wavy hair, and a simple white blouse, highlighting her earlier career. The composition blends her professional lab environment with a personal archival photo, celebrating her groundbreaking contributions to virology, leukemia research, and women's roles in science during the mid-20th century. The overall mood is one of scholarly achievement, warmth, and historical significance.

Virologist Charlotte Friend (b. #OTD in 1921) proved viruses could cause cancer (1957) & revolutionized virology (& helped define modern retrovirology).

She later pioneered differentiation therapy, showing cancer cells could be "reverted" to health, defining a new path to treat cancer. #WomenInSTEM

Dog owners will know: being a pup parent is a 24/7 role.

When patrols are over, our Canine Unit handlers don't clock off. The bond between a tracker dog and her handler is built over years – in the field, they read each other without words.

The fact that a Koch Brothers-funded front group is attacking @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social and me over our book #ScienceUnderSiege (bookshop.org/p/books/scie...) is such an amusing, unintentional affirmation of what we have to say about who is behind the right-wing war on science!

The immune system is not a muscle.

It is a cleansing fire.

It causes collateral damage.

It has a limited supply of fuel.

It can get out of control.

Don’t burn your whole house down every time by catching every disease without caution.

‘I wish I could push ChatGPT off a cliff’: professors scramble to save critical thinking in an age of AI As AI has upended the way students learn, academics worry about the future of the humanities - and society at large

I'm one of many professors quoted in this report from Alice Speri. I really appreciate The Guardian taking an angle which has basically eluded every other major outlet.

Neurons undergo IFNγ-driven persistent epigenetic shifts and synaptopathy in encephalitis Shammas et al. show a neuronal epigenetic remodeling during CNS encephalitis. This program involves IFNγ-driven persistent reduction in TF-binding site accessibility, linked to long-lasting reduction of synaptic gene expression and associated synaptopathy. Parallel findings in Rasmussen encephalitis patient neurons point toward a conserved cross-species mechanism.

Four significant events over the past 5 years which were all meant to lead to radical change in the understanding of #ME & the care of #pwME
That change isn't happening, government & the NHS fail us & the BPS cabal push back at every potential breakthrough.

We were promised electoral reform, including an end to first past the post, by the Trudeau Liberals in 2015. They quickly reneged after being elected. Now we have the Carney Liberals trying to get an unearned majority via floor crossers. This is seriously undemocratic.

Yesterday Treaty Chiefs made it clear…

They came to the Legislature to stand up for the Treaties and all Treaty people against the contempt that the UCP are showing towards all Treaty people.

(Which are all Albertans btw)

And they’re no one’s pawns.

Mamdani Chooses His Words Carefully After Alleged Terror Attack

One day the NYT's editors will read these stories again and be ashamed of themselves. Mamdani called the attack "heinous," "criminal," "reprehensible," "terrorism," and "the antithesis of who we are." The insinuation that he's conflicted about this is disgraceful. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/09/n...
