Yeah this is all department stuff too. Iβve just taken initiative to get rid of the useless stuff everyone is responsible for making sure they have the things they need for their stuff. π€·π»ββοΈ

I did a lab clean out of the lab I sort of inherited. There were so many useless cables, so I made a similar box and labeled it βuse by June 2026 or garbageβ
There are many famous fans I associate with the Patriots, but New Jerseyβs own Jon Bon Jovi is β¦ uh β¦ not among them.
If Jeremy Fears wants to avoid comparisons to Grayson Allen, he could consider going a single game without intentionally tripping a player on the opposing team.
A new paper from the lab! This time with wonderful collaborators Charlie Nagle, Mark Amengual, and @casillas.bsky.social. We had a great time working on this piece around how we think bilingual research can and should be done going forward!

The first three. Physics of Music, Cosmology, and pirates.
I took three of your five classes. Mustβve been something in the water in the linguistics department.
There are few things in this world I hate more than Chicagoβs hockey team (eg, fascism, the Yankees, icy sidewalks). However, this standing ovation was super classy and made me cry.
What. Was. That?
I literally cannot believe Caleb Williams is a human person.
I love sports so much and would go to basically any game. But it is so absolutely miserable in Chicago right now that there is no way I would agree to be outside for this game.
I am so pleased that my first paper out this year is this multi-coauthored gem with my collaborators in the ROLE Collective. It was so wonderful to serve as a small part of this effort to understand the terms we use as language researchers and their impacts!

Happy new year, friends
Spontaneously went to a jazz show tonight and the JOY in this venue, in this city is unparalleled. I am ending my year full of hope and confidence in my community, which is a lovely way to feel.
The Going to Bed Book has the animals taking a bath and putting on the pajamas before going up to exercise, which just seems like a bad decision.
Iβm at the Illinois/Alabama basketball game at the United Center, and I cried so much when they brought the Illinois starting line up out to the iconic Bulls music. Yay sports!
Linguists! Write time Friday is hosted this Friday again by the stalwart Melissa Baese-Berk @m2b2.bsky.social ! 10-12 ET -- come get some work done! www.lsadc.org/ev_calendar_...
Love to see a Ducks win π¦π¦
Come write with meeeee!
Watching my favorite sport*
(*wondering if I'll die tonight)
I regularly state I want As Much Baseball As Possible, so I apologize to all the Dodgers and Blue Jays fans, as this situation is clearly all my fault.
I have zero rooting interest in this game and STILL feel like Iβm about to have a heart attack.
I love Dave Roberts as much as the next Red Sox fan, but I really donβt think they need to interview him in the middle of an inning in Game 7 of the World Series while heβs trying to do his job.
I do not love an intentional walk, but I think the one to Vlady was an especially bad decision.
Thereβs nothing better than a Game 7 where I do not personally have to feel like Iβm going to be ill for 3 straight hours.
@m2b2.bsky.social hosting tomorrow at 10aET!
I know! And heβs NOT sad because on weekends heβs sad he doesnβt get to go to school, so heβs just really milking my emotions for all he can!
Every night at bedtime (and often to strangers during the day), the three year old announces βIβm sad mommy worksβ, which is really a great way of ratcheting up mom-guilt.
I wish I had one eighth the confidence of the man at the hotel pool who insisted that Pearl Jam formed from Nirvana in the late 90s and ALL THE PEOPLE WITH HIM believed him.
I love baseball so much. #flythew
