Friday is the last day to sign up for the Green Labs/Thermofisher ULT freezer blitz in celebration of Energy Week at Penn. Signing up gets you a free ULT health assessment to help better preserve your samples long-term and save energy!
The sixth Energy Week at Penn takes place Feb. 23-27, with nearly two dozen energy-focused events on sustainable computing and AI and approaches to energy storage, conversion, fuel production, and more. https://bit.ly/4aXdU0s
If youβve ever wondered why lithium, cobalt, and rare earths suddenly dominate energy headlines, Prof. Eric Schelter from
@pennchemistry.bsky.social will dig into where these materials come from and why they matter in a Science CafΓ© on Feb 24.

Image shows a flier for the R O S E I led R E U: Research on Sustainable Energy Technology and Systems (R O S E T A S). The image shows previous participants presenting their work on metal-organic frameworks, a discussion around a laptop, and 4 researchers in PPE watching another person in PPE work at a bench. The flier goes on to state: ROSETAS is a 10-week National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) summer program in sustainable energy that is hosted by ROSEI, which serves as the nexus for sustainable energy-related research and educational programs at Johns Hopkins University. Accepted students will be awarded a $7,000 stipend and given housing on campus for the summer. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents, have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies, and not yet have a bachelorβs degree. Trainees will participate in a professional development program and in research projects in one of five areas that address societyβs vast energy needs: Carbon capture and transformation Energy storage technology Solar energy technology Wind energy technology Electricity grid management Program Dates: May 27, 2025 β August 1, 2025 Application Deadline: February 3, 2025. Notice of acceptance will be sent by March.
