Ooof. I hope he gets all the love and support now from everyone.

Amber is a force! The back comment was worrying though.

Not if you are in the U.S. though. My reading comprehension sucks, apparently!

You can also happily rollerblade until the age of 20, then start figure skating and become the European champion at 35!

Yes! There is a bunch of actual names ending in -slav (Yaroslav, Vladislav, etc.), but this is a made-up funny one.

The author is clearly also a Russian speaker, judging by the name!

Love this dance and the dynamic between Piper and Paul in it.

They were so sharp and committed today! Love them more and more with each skate.

Trusova found quad lutz way easier than 3A, so not unheard of!

I started crying after the loop and didn’t stop until the scores were posted.

He is improving with each skate! That spin with the blade trick used to look a bit awkward earlier in the season, but now it looks smooth and cool.

Yes! Their programs are so beautiful!

I like this program more and more each time I see it.

It looks like she hurt her back early on, which makes her resilience particularly impressive!

Everyone should be allowed to let their inner Kevin take over and cry!

Same in Russian.

I just ask my students every year if they want to meet on Wednesday. This year, two classes said no, one said yes. I am dreaming of the time when everyone just has a week off (would gladly add one week of instruction in August or December instead!).

I spent most of the last week being sick (just a cold, nothing major), and I fully agree that washing some dishes can be an achievement!

With Lara’s recent progress, Italy is very serious about that team medal!

I recently imagined Adam switching to pairs and teaming up with Amber, and the universe imploding as a result. As a fan of both, I am, naturally, suffering preventively.

Only if I’m addressing a close friend. If speaking to anyone else, β€˜medical procedure’ means anything from teeth cleaning to ingrown toenail clipping, bc I’m not going to specify anything for people outside of my immediate circle.

Every year in my Language and Society course I have several students who do not know Hebrew and Yiddish are two different languages. On the bright side, after the course they probably (hopefully!) do.

In Russian, kasha may be so many different things, but pretty much all of them have to be milk-based (if water-based, it’s highlighted separately as a signal of poverty or dieting). Buckwheat, oatmeal, millet, farina, sometimes rice. That’s the default morning meal for children.

Yes! That’s when there is no fun left in the process and all the pain it had been masking is in full swing.

I think it might also depend on what you mean by hostile (hostile as β€œall students are treated badly and scared to death of the teachers bc of strict punishment, etc.” vs. β€œthe environment is hostile to particular students, with both students and teachers contributing to hostility”).
