Not an uncomplicated ethical improvement on GR, really. Seen a lot of people who should know better uncritically buy the hype.
A screenshot from the StoryGraph app showing that I've met my 2024 reading goal of 120/120 books
In the past few years I'd be lucky if I finished even 10 books in a year but this year I fell back in love with reading in a serious way. This goal was ambitious but I did it! I'm very proud of myself.
Rebel Blade by Davinia Evans, a book with a dark red cover and the figure of a girl dressed in green and holding a sword and dagger. The book is resting on a yellow throw rug.
I have spent the days since I finished Shadow Baron counting down to when Rebel Blade came out and then of course life got in the way of reading but!! I have finally finished it and it is such!! a satisfying end!!! to a wonderful trilogy!!!! Thank you @cupiscent.bsky.social for writing these books
It was the notebook! As soon as there was a mention of blank pages I was like HERE WE FUCKING GOOOOO
I'm reading Rebel Blade and Siyon did a thing that made me go "I hope this means x happens" and @cupiscent.bsky.social just goes ahead and DELIVERS so wonderfully
Adorable candy pink book cover, two cartoon roller derby skaters going fast around the track with delighted or dubious expressions, text: blood sweat glitter, iona datt sharma, and in a little badge in the corner "a roller derby romance"
Blurb text: The Primrose Glitter Girls play ROLLER DERBY and theyโre here to DESTROY YOU! Well, theyโre trying. Team captain Eleanor Ashwell has problems. Her fresh meat skaters are terrified, her blockers fall over when people look at them funny, and if the Glitter Girls donโt start winning bouts soon theyโre going to be chucked out of the league. And off the track, things are no better: Eleanorโs job as a nursing sister is overwhelming her, and friends and lovers seem to be drifting away. Robin, Eleanorโs pretty-in-pink new jammer, is hawk-fast and fearless, and sheโs a brilliant skater to boot. But sheโs never on time, she forgets her kit, she comes to practice in stupid frilly dresses, and according to Eleanor, she has no respect for the traditions of the game. Itโs only because the team needs her so badly that Eleanor is teaching her to play at all. But ditzy, silly Robin isnโt quite what she appears to be. And if Eleanor can see past that candy-pink exterior, then there might be some things Robin can teach her, too. About how to win, how to lose, how to rediscover a little glitter in her life. How to get herself back up from where sheโs fallenโand how to fall in love.
I'm about to get on a flight but my roller derby lesbian romance comes out today! ppl have called it "the emotionally grown up winter holiday classic I never knew I needed"!

The audible title details page for The Mars House by Natasha Pulley
I am OBSESSED, actually. This was one of those books where every minute I wasn't listening to it, I was waiting until I could get back to it. Natasha Pulley writes such good stories with such wonderful characters and Daniel de Bourg did a great job at narrating this.
Currently listening to the audiobook of The Mars House by @natashapulley.bsky.social and the way I WAILED (delightedly) at the mention of Mori & Daughter on Filigree Street in chapter 2. Expanding only with a serious grudge into electrical timekeeping indeed. I love this.
Considering getting into the Burnished City trilogy now that the third and final book is out in the world?
Until the end of the year, NOTORIOUS SORCERER is only $2.99 digitally in the US. A great time to jump on into the magic and mayhem!

Did I take a look at my next book and mentally calculate how to best plan my reading time to make sure I'm done with it by the 10th, yes I absolutely did
Very happy for everyone who gets Rebel Blade but I'm also feeling very (GRABBY HANDS) in Australian
