but at the same time villainize a female character for being a teeny bit mean. Which is double confusing to me because Jax is literally THE bully in the circus and Ragatha is just a girl that tries too hard…but SHE’S the bad guy for accidentally mentioning Jax’s dead friend and (justifiably)
effect others right? Even Gooseworks themselves said that Jax is still their favorite character even though he’s a bad person. I think this speaks to a wider issue of people in fandom being wayyyy too quick to write off a male characters bad behavior after they show a SLITHER of vulnerability,
I think a lot of Jax fans feel the need to downplay or completely rewrite things to make it justifiable in their minds to like Jax. (I’ve had this problem lately myself but I’m trying to work on it) But like…you know you can like an asshole character WITHOUT downplaying or erasing how their actions
Don't get me wrong, Jax is still my favorite character, but some of you guys make too many excuses for his behavior. He has reasons for why he acts the way he does, but he's still not a good person lol.
