The 1984 pressings were presented as a "best-of" compilation, complete with sources and dates from non-existent singles and albums circa 1965 to 1982, keeping the illusion that Spinal Tap was a real band.

Even with a fake album named 'Shark Sandwich'....

The band, alongside director Rob Reiner, wrote every track, and the music still resonates. The songs created a parody that feels authentically rock-oriented rather than purely novelty.

The joke only works because the craft is real. These songs go to 11.
