First week into my six-year tour of duty. From the DFA's WPS Division to the Embassy in the Chinese capital. Now privileged to be in Beijing to engage in the broader spectrum of our bilateral ties. Feels like a profound sense of purpose guiding this journey. 🇵🇭🇨🇳 Filled with hope, tempered by reality.

Last full day of the Maritime and Ocean Affairs Office in 2330 Roxas Boulevard. Moving to the temporary offices of the DFA in DD Tower, Pasay to give way to the multi-year renovation of the building.

Yesterday's incidents in the vicinity of both Bajo de Masinloc and Escoda Shoal happened in PHL EEZ. Even the one near BDM happened 16 NM from the feature, beyond its territorial sea. There is absolutely no way under UNCLOS that China can claim any jurisdiction over those waters.
