Today, I was walking past a coffee shop, and noticed a sign advertising a tiramisu flavoured latte. That's right, they found a way to make espresso taste like coffee. Finally, a drink that tastes like the thing that it is. A caffeine turducken.
It was delicious.
Internet's telling me there might be Northern Lights tonight. It's too cloudy where I am, but other folks in Canada, if you've got clear skies, look up!
someone asked on insta what βbe brave enough to be kindβ means and why i say it on my podcast and at screenings
being kind is always a vulnerability - it exposes your belly. love puts us in harmβs way always. we gotta find the courage to risk being hurt. or else i donβt know what the point is.
Leanna Owen, Margot Riggi , David Drubin, Janet Iwasa and Yidi Sun use molecular animation to depict the full progression of CME in budding yeast, with an accompanying Cell Science at a Glance article and poster.

It's remarkable the collection of zany genetic libraries of yeast mutants that have been created. And it's easy enough to modify one yeast strain, but a lot of effort to systematically make a new strain 6,400 times. Kudos!
My mother's up to seventeen years now.
Regina-style pizza needs more appreciation. I've heard they put cinnamon in the sauce to make it sweeter?
And congrats to the Riders on their Grey Cup victory!
Best of luck to the Riders today!

Quite the light show tonight (just outside Regina)

Clever way to illustrate sound concepts by creative use of a woofer.
...I'll... ah... I'll show myself out.
I am also deeply thankful for pecan pie.
With half a bottle of Chardonnay in me, and with full acknowledgement of the objections to this holiday many have, I would like to say that I am thankful for my parents, the support they gave and the character they taught me to have. I know who I am, and I persevere, because of them.

I wonder what will do more damage to scientific credibility in the long run... Science institutions and grants being openly and deliberately taken over by partisan political ideology, or people getting their science information and understanding from ChatGPT summaries?
... sooooo, Labubu's are just the Pokemon evolution of Furbys, right?
Remember, doing the same thing over and over and over again while expecting to get different results is the very definition of my exercise routine.
Everything happening is a lot.
Take a breath. Itβs not on you to fix all of it.
Find a corner of it you can work on.
Do a thing today that matters to you. Help someone you can help.
Donβt let anyone talk you out of trying.
As brutal and lonely and dark as the world is right now, the few trans people in my life are some of the most kind and decent souls I know. They have survived so much, and are thriving now. So maybe there's hope for the rest of us too. Happy pride.
I want to believe in people. Even after everything, I want to believe in people. Because if I'm wrong, what's the goddamn point?
Really loving Steam Powered Giraffe lately.
I hate to admit it, but the resize had me confused for almost a minute.
I think it will be interesting to see how much the record early voting was a question of electoral engagement and how much was just people more willing to cast a ballot in advance to save the rush. But if you haven't yet, there's still time (in my time zone at least)!
Some of the smartest people I've ever met have been the dumbest people I've ever known.
If you can avoid it, don't work for or with assholes. It's never worth it in the long run.

Here's the thing. Horrible people feed off each other. Every horrible person uses other horrible people to justify themselves. So be decent. Try to seed a little goodness around you. And let's hope that, eventually, the horrible people will burn each other down and we'll have built something.
