A big part of the process for me is prepping my own surfaces. I think it behooves any serious painter to learn how to stretch and prime their own canvas. This is flax linen which can be very finicky. You have to stretch it to within an inch of its life otherwise it will slack and sag once it’s dry.

Kind of a weird factoid, but my Aunt is friends with Yo-Yo Ma. She met him while being a nanny to his childhood friends kids. He’d come by to visit, but she had no idea who he was until I told her.
