Sadly it has deteriorated since, and the threat of development is looming over Shawfield once again.
This stadium is remarkably important to the heritage of football in Glasgow. It can't be demolished.

On this day in 1872, Scotland and England played the world’s first international football match at West of Scotland Cricket Ground in Partick.
The match finished 0-0 and was watched by 4000 people.
The impact of this football match led to the football we consume today.
It was a great night for Botafogo, who made history by winning the Copa Libertadores for the first time.
The match was incredible - despite being down to 10 men for 96 minutes or so, they ran out 3-1 winners 🤯
Seriously magical stuff. You love to see it.
When football clubs cease to exist, we don’t just lose a sports team.
We lose social hotspots, cultural institutions and historic places.
Football clubs are the hearts of communities.
You can’t replace them.

Athletic Club only sign players born in the Basque Country, a region with a long history of being oppressed by Spain.
