Ttrpgs love to have a class called "the bastion" or "the bulwark"
Discovering Leslie Fish died is a weird bittersweet thing. Her music meant a lot to me, then I found out later in life she became a right wing nut job transphobe. Seen a lot of people say she's died twice now and I feel that's probably accurate.
Fearow T. Agnew
Oh and of course, Futurama has an entire special about it
Luther has a multi episode plot around two guys playing a DnD like game and acting out murders. It's also not great.
Bob's burgers has an episode about a girl trying to run a D&D game at the restaurant and it's a masterclass in how to be a selfish bad DM
I missed getting to see it at my local art house in October last year and I'm absolutely carving out the time for it in 2026
ICE is now responsible for 66% of the homicides in Minneapolis this year.
Anyone who is part of the federal government who is not doing everything in their power to stop this administration, regardless of the assumed cost to normalcy or career, is a coward and a collaborator.
they've taken your demands for justice and abolition and turned it into a demand for more funding and a deeper integration into our society. Nobody in government is entertaining the idea of getting rid of ICE and anything you do to try and force them will be rerouted into more funds, more guns.
The thing is, it feels like calling does absolutely nothing. Call them and what? Complain to an intern while these fuckers are off doing god knows what?
Just feels like more hollow "vote the bad shit away" rhetoric when what needs to be done can't be said.
Scrooge from Muppet Christmas Carol: You there, boy! What day is it? Bean Bunny: Why, itβs Whiskey Friday with Tony Dokoupil, sir! Scrooge: Then I havenβt missed it!
I believe Heart:The city beneath has not just one but TWO classes that play in this space. One has a capstone that lets them strike through any one sentence in the core rulebook, permanently.
"Shoe doesn't drop"
The other one had a show, several shows actually
As for the other one, they have been buddy buddy with some bad people publicly for a long time, I don't even remember their work from before they were a known abuser
I think I had this sentiment of, I really do like their work but some of their past actions give me pause, I hope that show doesn't drop (it always drops but we can hope I guess). I guess it was hope the individual changed and grew up.
There's like, maybe three ttrpg designers out there that don't set off my "something is fucky about you and I'm just waiting for.that show to drop" sense. Haven't been wrong yet, just seems to be a when not an If with most people.
The section has to do with the heat clock rising and enemy forces deploying better defenses as your characters really get into the groove of doing what it is they do. I believe it's in the same section that says if the heat level gets too high you have X amount of turns to get out or you're dead
My absolute favorite mechanic in sinless sort of breaks that paradigm. As the heat gets turned up and failure becomes more threatening and dangerous the number of successes you need goes up but your adrenaline kicks in and the TN goes down!
It's happening!

Polygon writer who has only played D&D, playing his second rpg: Getting some serious D&D vibes from this game
Thinking again about the Polygon article that's like "the problem with indie TRPG designers is that they simply aren't outspoken enough," meanwhile Polygon will just devote an entire article to someone's ersatz K-Pop Demon Hunters 5E kickstarter

Oh God. This is it. 5e really is just a Funko pop factory.
I got big money betting on what this is going to be "compatible" with.
I think we just got to stop letting two dudes with a name that start with D writing TV shows.
I need everyone to make a shitpost game that fits into at most 3 posts on here before the end of the year otherwise thr sun will not rise again
johnny rico in starship troopers saying βkill em all!β
Iβm from Whoville, and I say kill the Grinch!
I would argue that my liking the game-that-actually-exists-in-the-text is meaningfully different to the people who like an imaginary version of D&D that isn't supported by the text of the game. I would even argue that only liking the imaginary version of the D&D means you don't /really/ like D&D.
