Iβm Kelsey! Iβm an artist / oil painter focused on landscape painting. New to bluesky and just looking for some artist mutuals on this app :)
As an exampleβ hereβs a recent study I did of a piece by Eric Bowman.
I learned a ton about how to hint at detail & form without rendering, and how important subtle color variation is in making your loose landscapes just a tad more interesting!
Master studies are genuinely THE most valuable exercise for artists wanting to improve their understanding of brushwork/mark-making and stylization.
Every time I do one I learn SO much. Thereβs no need to reinvent the wheel, and nothing wrong with it if you arenβt passing the work off as your own!
i had to bring an extra chair into my studio so my cat spooky could nap next to me while i paint all day
happy to be here!!
glad my first post is getting some love! for those of yβall interested, hereβs the inspo for that oil paintingβ a photo i took in point reyes california!
WIP oil painting + my original photo reference! This is a shot of some great aurora I took in Fairbanks AK a few weeks ago :)
a round wood panel on an easel in a sunny, plant-filled art studio. the painting is a painterly, impressionist piece depicting the rocky cliffs of the california coast on an overcast day, with crashing waves and moss growing on the rocks
been feeling very inspired by the california coast recently. hoping for a very productive 2024 in terms of my art π€π»
