Walt Disney's animation department in the 80s, you would have loved Twitter before it turned evil (Memo they sent when Disney changed "Basil of Baker Street" to "The Great Mouse Detective")

That number is burned into my consciousness. I inadvertently learned that you could see private conversations in public chat rooms when using Telnet instead of a browser on GeoCities. I can tell you the difference in audible dial-up handshakes between 1200, 2400, 14.4 kbps modems. I needed a edu email address to join Facebook after my university was admitted. When the BC Conservatives voted for a bill to repeal the human rights code, the NDP caucus promptly put out a press release slamming the Cons who "couldn’t muster the courage to stand against it."
Today, 0 NDP MLAs mustered the courage to vote against a bill to close all BC's safe consumption sites
My first kiddo spent three years going to daycare in Surrey/Langley because it was easier to get him a spot closer to my husband's job then to find a spot literally anywhere in Vancouver. He spent two hours a day sitting in the car.
A little story about the state of childcare in our city because I’m bitter we once again did not get a spot 🥲
We need more community land trusts everywhere!

As stress and tension rises locally, nationally and internationally, be gentle with yourself and others. Connect before you correct. Be curious about folk before you’re critical of others. Seek to understand before being understood. Make good trouble. Spread some joy. One love.❤️✊🏾
Thanks to all who came along on our first tour of 2026! It was informative & fun; great storytelling from @lanefab.com & Julie McManus. Pouring rain highlighted the function of St. George Rainway:

Today should be your 38th birthday.. When you lose your son you lose more than a child you lose a piece of your heart and your joy. Life is forever altered, and nothing can ever fill that space. Yet in my soul, he remains, my precious boy, forever loved. His laughter, his smile, and his love are woven into who I am. My love for him will never fade. Yor are my pride and my joy - you've made a change that cannot be broken..

I hope your next piece is about malls in small towns!
I don’t think anyone is going to be satisfied with these answers. Apologies for the lop sided video.
Olympic Village is finally getting its school.
It should not take decades to break ground on any promised amenities let alone a neighbourhood school.

Do you think this could be built for non-market housing? I work for a local community land trust interested in this type of built form, but I'm not sure if the pro forma would work for a non-market rental or co-op.
Some of those apologies you linked to don't actually say the words "I'm sorry"... Not a knock on you, but on the players' inability to actually acknowledge the hurt they caused. Did they listen to Hilary Knight's comments, I wonder?
I, for one, am relieved that the office towers are continuing to recover. Thank you, human beings, for the sacrifice you and your families are making.
We're bringing champagne to the ground breaking 🥂

One of the main talking points for school opponents was the increase in traffic. Ironically I biked here with my 8-year old and they all drove
