What an absolute pleasure to host Prof Jyoti Choudhury @jc4-jyoti.bsky.social at our @cruk-cityoflondon.bsky.social Proteomics Seminar Series on Monday 2nd of March. It was utterly thrilling to learn about the annotation of protein-coding genes that still lay in the darkness of the proteome.

Thio-NHS esters are non-innocent protein acylating reagents - Nature Communications N-Hydroxysuccinimide (NHS)-ester derivatives are one of the most widely used acylating agents. In this work, the authors report that ring-opening reaction of the succinimide to afford N-succinamide de...

We (with @bendavisgroup.bsky.social) were using NHS chemistry for some protein conjugation when we noticed some odd prominent side products. It turns out thio-nhs reagents (a major class of reagents) has some notable side reactions that happen all the time.

That is a *serious* Series A for a hardware proteomics tech! I think Alamar was something like $14M, Seer was $6M, nautilus $27M, so this is hefty. I'm itching to get some demo samples done and get quote estimates.
