I am again going insane seeing this talked about as some new or unique phenomena when it's how the US military has been deployed for decades now.

That the president can unilaterally declare war has been standard politics for decades now. Longer than you or I have (probably) been alive.

This is how war in America has worked for decades. Hawkish presidents send troops into combat situations and then hold those troop's lives as hostage for funding the entire war.

Most politicians are more than happy to play along. It lets them appease their donors without looking bad themselves.

Like no social media websites have those protections already, despite the clear need for them, but it's going to be particularly bad and probably incredibly corrosive to the internet as a whole.

But I do think it is going to be MUCH MORE than anyone can really expect or prepare for. Especially at this incredibly dangerous time when these technologies are being welcomed in by corporations, and will have no defense against a large-scale, well-coordinated, and well-funded astroturfing attack

I'm 'calling this' in the same way that one 'calls' that the tides will go out, or that the sun will rise tomorrow.

We are probably already seeing significant usage of Ai by Israel to try and astroturf social media spaces. It is just indistinguishable from the paid college students used before now
