In July 1963, a group of Black girls (ages 12–15) were arrested for protesting segregation in Americus, Georgia and secretly jailed for 60 days in the filthy Leesburg Stockade. No contact. Their parents weren’t even told where they were — or the inhumane conditions they endured.
