(I hope this version is made by the original creator though, I know Minecraft China edition has addons that just steal mods)

I don’t think the Warden (and assumedly the Creaking) are all that based on horror, they do have strong tones that can provide scares (activating a warden is always tense) but they do a lot for the ludonarrative and the game loop
They’re not designed to be Slenderman 2 like a lot of these mods
HOWEVER I don’t think this is actually a Minecraft ad, for decades at this point I’ve seen ads offering “free Minecraft!”
And I don’t think Minecraft would advertise this similar mod anyway
It’s likely something scummy using someone else’s work
Though due to the popularity, there were many low effort copycats, whether being from kids trying to make their own, or people and YouTubers milking the concept to death for views
I know the Cave Dweller’s popularity allowed for a bedrock version of the mod to be made, so I assume this is the same
There was originally a mod called the Cave Dweller, it was horror themed but it was mainly experimental, trying to create a more unique mob challenge. It’s popularity inspired a lot of other similar mods like The One Who Watches, which similarly served as a design project for its creator
--community, for both fair and unfair reasons
That in itself formed a kind of toxic desire to *prove* myself
Where I started making things to enjoy being a part of a wider community, now I feel like I have to show that I'm better than people think I am
But honestly maybe I'm worse.
And I feel like I'm dragging down anyone who works with me because of my low output, my lack of artistic growth and my mediocre skills
Which sucks because sprite art is the one thing I felt like I was good at
It doesn't help that for one reason or another I feel I'm unliked by the general rivals--
It's not just limited to the Rivals community, but it's heavily rooted in there because I've seen people who were complete amateurs in art now be some of the best animators the community has seen
And I don't think I've notably improved over the past 5 years
It begins to feel pointless
I grew up doing sprite art for the past 18 years, but recently I've started to lose the enjoyment I had *making* it
Whether it's because I stop making what I want, to do what I "should" be doing, or because I feel I have to perfect it and meet everyone else's level
I feel incredibly inferior
Realising the reason I've started to fall out of love with Rivals modding is because I forced myself to stop engaging with the part I liked the most, the designing, and made my sole task the art, which I'm just not very confident with
I think it's why I initially had so many projects
