In accepting his WGA award, Stephen Colbert named and said something funny about each of his 20 writers so they’d be hired when his show ends 🥹

The NHS has now stopped all medication - puberty blockers and hormones - for trans minors. For most, unless they get drugs from other sources, this means a lifetime, in an increasingly violent and transphobic society, unable to pass. Under Wes Streeting NHS policy is harm and death for trans people.
there's currently a bunch of subway ads up for a shitty AI product, pitching stuff like "we'll make that slideshow presentation for you!"
and, my brother in electrified silicon,
1) making the slides is like 75% of how I memorize and refine my presentation &
2) making slides is creative and fun.
Thomas introducing themself with their pronouns on City of Ghosts
I used to respect him (Pete), but this is sad and embarrassing for everyone. It was a place I dreamed of working at one time. And now I just feel sad thinking about it. you have the power to make kids feel seen and instead you think “but what about their bigoted parents? What will they think?!”
I need every single male artist that follows me to read this. It's not very long. You need to bear witness to this shit. You have to see it with your own eyes because you never will in your everyday life.
I'm serious, read it all please
I mean beyond all of the loathsome obvious shit about allllll of this, the director of the fucking INSIDE fucking OUT movies saying “We’re making a movie, not hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy" is a level of self-unawareness I can only marvel at
We saw that new Pixar movie “Hoppers” and it forced a lot of questions with our 3yo I wasn’t ready for, like how is she a beaver & which animals are robots & why can they talk.. If there had been a gay character in it that would have elicited zero questions. Fuck off with this tired ass moral panic

“Suddenly, you remove this big, key piece, which is all about identity, and Elio just becomes about totally nothing… The Elio that is in theaters right now is far worse than Adrian’s best version of the original.” www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...
Call me crazy but I think someone is a lot more likely to need extensive therapy if their sexuality is treated as something to be hidden rather than if they see a gay person exists.
*throwing darts at a wall of random words* Today I will be mad at... Timothée Chalamet... about... opera.
We could all have a pretty great Tribute to Screenwriters Who Just Died triple-feature weekend and watch Bullitt, The Thomas Crown Affair, and The Candidate. Nobody would regret a minute of it.
RIP Alan Trustman and Jeremy Larner.
there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for
I wonder if Claude would be “anxious” because the military is using it to bomb schoolgirls or because it’s poisoning the air around data centers or because it’s going to crash the economy or because it’s encouraged thousands of psychotic delusions or all of the above
A post on X from the betting platform Polymarket that says “BREAKING: Anthropic CEO says Claude may or may not have gained consciousness, as the model has begun showing symptoms of anxiety.”
Literally as I’m arguing with someone about whether AI companies are misleading people into believing their technology possesses God-like super-intelligence I see this monstrosity
there are like 50 people in the country who want the UK to get involved in the Iran War, one of them is Kemi Badenoch, one of them is Nigel Farage, and the other 48 are newspaper columnists
I'm so glad she wrote this. The portrayal of her in this series is, to me, indefensible. She deserves an apology from the filmmakers and FX.
And if you hear yourself saying you portrayed a real person (who's alive!) in a particular way to manipulate your audience, please go improve.

These are the 4 things AI can do well:
•Clean up your email inbox (badly)
•Give my shittiest neighbor (Alan) something to talk about at a party
•Tell a 12 yr old to kill himself
•Incinerate a school at 10:16 AM on a Tuesday
You can see why we need to base our economy around it

Yep that's kind of a nuts complaint - SNL is historically about *making* stars, right?
my main concern is the harm rather than the output, so i don't really need to hear a product testimonial from someone who found it useful. because i don't care
yes and thank you for the excuse to share one of my all-time favorite tweets (from @longwall26.bsky.social)
This is important. Reform keep taking positions that are only supported by the 25% of the electorate they already have and in doing so are negatively polarising everyone else against them.
Ha! indeed
This 👇 Goodwin et al are the very embodiment of ‘When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression’.
This is off the table stuff. We were meant to have moved in from this. This should finish the party unless it's seen to radically address it. And Labour should stop using Reforms popularity as a justification for its right wing policies. Of course none of this will happen
The @ipso.co.uk ruling of Telegraph’s preposterous “We earn £345k but soaring private school fees mean we can’t go on five holidays”, reveals the article to have been a fabrication. There is no such family as Al, Alexandra, Ali, Harry and Barry Moy. Glad to have acted as lead complainant on this.
As smarter people than me have observed, this kind of contract divides writers into easy hires (white, male, straight, agnostic) and "risks" who might say the wrong thing on social media or have an opinion a newspaper misrepresents.
And guess who stops getting hired then...
