Anyway, the book truly is a short read, a digital-only version, but my goal as of now is to finish the next two books, and with the proceeds from the digital books could finance a volume set including all three books in a physical form.
Aside from being a jumping point for these tales, The Dark Within Us is also a story about fatherhood, what it means to be a son, and what that can do to a person while slaying nightmarish creatures. The story, if anything, served as an intricate outlet for the loss of my father.
Eventually, it will lead to an animated TV series set with a whole new cast of characters with a heavy tie to music as part of their narrative, and would hopefully end with a comic series featuring a last final character and a new set of stakes.
This particular story constructed here, in The Dark Within Us, is ultimately the earliest stage of what will eventually become an overarching narrative spanning across several characters and decades in this book series alone.
Basically, this story is a story that I've been working on for years. In grade school, we'd be given writing journals for school. They were meant to be tools to help just learn the fundamentals of writing; I skipped all of that and wrote about boys hunting monsters.
