I burst into happy tears when I opened the framed portrait of Charmer. What makes it especially meaningful is that it's based on a photo I took. Thank you! She was the only cat I've ever had who loved playing with tennis balls

I was walking home in the snow and saw a girl wearing a parka with the hood up, but she had the front open so we all could see her crop top and bare tummy. Never change, Chicagoland, I love you

I was listening to an Agatha Christie mystery narrated by an Englishwoman. She started talking about psyllium. I thought she meant the fiber supplement. She actually meant a Sealyham terrier.

My one piece of advice for this weekend: If you can find a day where you can be fully in your pajamas by, let’s say, 5:30, watching a movie, covered by something like a Phillies blanket, go ahead and do that. It’s going to feel great.

Fun fact: In the 1960s, nurses worked pretty much any place other than a hospital.

Pour one out for Alyssa Rosenberg, who has promised to read all and publish as many as possible letters to the editor about the @washingtonpost.com’s owner/publisher decision to cancel presidential endorsements effective now - after endorsing all but once since 1976.

Hey look I get to show you another thing I drew. It was very fun working up these characters and I'm counting on everyone to buy the books so I get to draw them again for subsequent volumes.

(also if your book needs a cover illustration I am just so available.)

A gel monoprint: A woman's head split horizontally at the eyeline with the top and bottom coming apart to reveal a bare skull underneath. On either side of the head are groups of scissors arrayed out like wings. Below the head is a decorative frame around text reading 'Slayer of Men' and below that text in casual handwriting typeface reading 'Your Worst Enemy'. The background is bright red and printed in gold can be seen an array of medieval pole arms and various other weapons.

Slayer #1. Another new gel monoprint. Messing around more with painting in the spot colors and what I can get away with there and so far it is not as much as I want to get away with.

PSA: I am asking everyone to please use the ALT tag when posting pix. It only takes a few seconds, is the right thing to do for people with low vision, and it can be used to add extra info or even something funny (as long as you get the basic description in there first). Please.

Also, it might be possible to alter how we experience time, so a person's life might seem to last much longer than it actually does.

Time travel, backward motion: This breaks the laws of physics and is therefore unlikely.

Time travel, forward motion: This is already happening at a rate of one second per second. It might be possible to travel forward in time at a faster rate.

Here's 50 things I made in 2023. Personal work, client work, random sketches I like, etc. Certainly not everything. I didn't paint as much as I wish I had, but I did a lot of client work, which is why I am still alive. So I guess it was enough.
