Also, in the state of Wisconsin there are like 50 Medicaid programs not called badger care (MAPP, ssi medicaid, deductible Medicaid, institutional Medicaid, etc). I’m sure other states are similar.

It can take like four years or more to get a disability determination from social security and that whole time most people go without any income. But somehow people under 60 without a disability determination should prove they’re trying to work.
Unfortunately my republican rep is a coward but I called his DC office anyway and talked to a human being, shared my concerns for clients I have through work, HIS CONSTITUENTS, and stressed the importance of voting no on this bill. Maybe that was pointless but it’s important to DO IT ANYWAY.

Like during the application process, if there is a piece of information that hasn’t been verified, a new letter gets sent out to the applicant letting them know they’ve been denied
A big chunk of my full time job is just explaining the paperwork people need to turn in to qualify for or renew their benefits. It’s already bad.
I appreciate Democrats specifically talking about the disabled as well as their caregivers. So many of the Medicaid-funded programs my agency provides are designed to not just support disabled individuals, but also to provide respite and/or reimbursement to caregivers.

I help people access these kinds of benefits at work. I’ve never met someone who doesn’t need Medicaid but is applying for it. The eligibility criteria are already fucking stringent. Fuck the billionaire class forever.
