Nikolaus Pfanner ist seit 1992 Professor für Biochemie und Direktor am Institut für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie der Universität Freiburg. Er ist zudem Gründungsmitglied des Exzellenzclusters CIBSS.

Für seinen Beitrag zum Verständnis der zellulären Kraftwerke (Mitochondrien) wurde Nikolaus Pfanner in die Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, die nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften Italiens, aufgenommen. Zudem erhielt er die Walter Neupert-Medaille. ufr.link/auszeichnung-pfanner @cibss.bsky.social

Thrilled to share our latest work showing that the bridge lipid transport protein ATG2A transfers diacylglycerol (DAG), and some TAG/PA, from the ER to LDs, thereby recruiting DGAT2 to drive local TAG synthesis, promoting LD expansion while protecting ER membranes.
