I'm still here. In the last months I developed an insanely hyper-focused interest in reading evidence based research on parenting. It served me to remember that not everything published is good/applicable/full picture. Good reminder for my actual work too.

Happy #BreastfeedingWeek! I wish a world where everyone would receive sound evidence-based breastfeeding advice instead of crappy opinions

Back here to say I'm headed to Sweden a couple of days for an exciting new project and this is the first time I travel without my child! Huge milestone (for me). Bittersweet, but necessary moment. Love this with all its difficulties.

Ironically, the reason we have menopause is that it was evolutionary advantageous in those historical times to have older people not reproducing 🤷‍♀️ they existed. And were post menopausal.

For my 1st #mothersday I got an ill child (hence a difficult night and day + not the present I wanted -my husband to take photos of us- because of the illness) and tomorrow I'm supposed to start working full time again. And somehow I'm more happy and at peace than I ever was in the last few years 😧

Thank you for writing this. While I'm a new mom, it deeply reasonates with me. Even if you are in a relationship it's not easy (very stable relationship since 21, child at 36 main reason: demands of 2 high profile careers, distance) And i am a physician-researcher in fertility, I should know better

To keep it real: scientist-moms days aren't only filled with inspiring conferences + baby's cuddles at night. Sometimes you have days like today, full of bureaucratic obstacles to overcome when returning to work, difficult planning, emails not answered and baby screaming for no reason 😅

For ex., the WHO says babies should be exclusively breastfed up to six months, but most countries do not offer 6 months of mat leave. And when it is possible there are few or no actions to be sure that colleagues are not left understaffed because of it

My 👶 is 3 months, exclusively breastfed. She is learning all things fast, but still very much a baby. I'm doing research + teach my lectures, but feel 100% not ready for clinics today. Happy to have the chance to take a couple more months, but I think we should rethink maternity leave better

I'm nap-trapped under my daughter. I would like to work or read, but both computer and book are too far away. I'm left with checking mails. Nothing makes you adapt like a baby. Bye 👋

This. And the need for additional explanations.

"Dairy" "Ok, so you can't eat eggs!" 🤦🏻‍♀️
But why? Why do people think that wheat and eggs contain milk and cheese doesn't?

Systematic Review of Avian Influenza Virus Infection and Outcomes during Pregnancy Review of AIV Infection during Pregnancy

We've known since the 1918 pandemic that #influenza is dangerous to pregnant people.

There's a recently published meta analysis of avian / H5 influenza in pregnancy. Maternal mortality was 90 %.

I'm amazed by the science of #breastfeeding. And baffled we do not really study it & instead approach it with tales and superstitions. In which other areas of science are evidence so undermined?

#Contraception use in cancer patients and survivors is frequently suboptimal due to incomplete/absent counseling. There is no informed choice without information!

Here we review the evidence and propose a pathway www.dovepress.com/contraceptio... #survivorship
