If you don’t know the “what, how to, or why” you’re practicing anything, any attempts is just for leisure, or wasted time, bc improvement won’t come without knowledge and proper execution. A gross oversight of any sort of teaching/tutorial format, I’ve noticed

Monday weather ain’t looking too good

Good morning, here is your daily dose of metal sonic. I just learned that metal sonic appears in that sonic manga that's been coming out recently. I haven't read it yet but best believe I'm going to now that metal is in it.

been working on my first sonic model for the past week or so 💤

My huge yoshi plush wearing flight safety equipment with graham crackers and jack daniels

Flight attendants had to move my giant yoshi plush to an empty seat in the back because it was taking too much room in the ceiling compartment, look a what they did to him 😭😭

I’m sure there’s a lot more I’ll come across, but I was pretty busy today so I didn’t get to play long

Overall, still happy I have the build. I’ll improve it in the future. “Make it exist first” and all lol I realize loading issues might be linked to overheating/storage space so maybe I can fix it

I literally died on metal harbor twice bc I was so used to needing to do that, I accidentally threw myself off paths jump dashing instead.

OH- and the upper path enemy chain after the first rope swing in green forest?? IT WORKS, you don’t have to finagle a stick angle/weird timing to reach it!!

I *do* miss the pc mod of no spindash delay, and light speed dash being mappable to Y, but get this-

you don’t have do a dumb little micro jump to be midair before the input to guarantee it’ll work!!!!!! It just DOES!!!!!!! 😭🙏🏾

So doing those little ingrained panic corrections to avoid collision shit just straight up don’t exist on dc lol

Like scripting works, and I don’t have to fight/avoid parts of stages beyond time saves. In sa2, I quick figured out super bounce + pyramid cave door skip works, so nothing is lost there

My biggest point of jarring contrast btwn both versions tho, is how much control jank formed in the ports that I didn’t have to actively play around. ALL of my sr muscle memory is formed from the hd ps3/pc port I’ve been playing since I got back into the series. -

I know of all the changes but it’s been so long since I’ve seen the originals, I forgot the visual mods that fix the ports aren’t even 100% accurate.

Mystic Ruins + Spd Hwy is a great showcase for everything major and minor that took a hit, I was shocked with how clean it looked.

Also somehow loading times are fucking abysmal???? the literal cd roms are faster than this thing, I expected better lol

So on one hand, it’s deffo not gonna become my primary method to play these on conscience of time alone. On the other hand, holy shit the ports don’t compare visually lmao

There’s a couple issues with a sound channel not working in the Sonic games, specifically the one managing idle chatter, and what I assume midi(?) files are assigned to.

I couldn’t hear the music track at all that plays for the sa2 cracktro, and some backing instruments in adv stage music :x

Totally forgot to mention I got my dreamcast mod up and running earlier! I have gripes with the emulator, but there’s positives too just by nature of having this at all. (Not that I needed it, I have a working og dc, but I’m not looking forward to aftermarket disc prices just to have more games)
