Yeah I think βlook good doing itβ is an Excellent description of your POV wizardry in that book. Seriously so compelling, especially when given the extra dimension of the audiobook.

when you win a small concession you just get to keep yelling btw. one time a local official said to me "you people are never happy" and like: correct! it is not our job to be happy with compromise! it's our job to be annoying forever actually

WAKE UP HUMANS BECKY CHAMBERS JUST ANNOUNCED A NEW BOOK! This is not a drill. I could cry Iβm so happy! #booksky
Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.
I cannot wait to be obnoxious about this one as soon as it comes out. Itβs really a novella readerβs dream. So often I read these delicious, intricately wrought, quick and tight wonders of the novella format and think βyeah Iβd happily spend a full length novel in that worldβ and now we get to!
"The Islamists oppose women getting an education," I mutter, as I aim my missile at the girls school
The King is mad
A screen cap showing I just purchased The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin . I used libro.fm and am supporting About Time Bookstore in Libertyville, IL.
That feeling when you JUMP to buy the sequel on sale even though you're only 25% through the first book. This thing is rewiring my brain in the best possible way and I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series. ππ¦
(Also, you should check out the libro.fm sale; good stuff for cheap!)

The cover of the black godβs drums by p DjΓ¨lΓ Clark
My review of the book, screencapped from fable. Full text: Quick, powerful, and seeped in the lore and magics of New Orleans. Clark knows how to write a compelling tale and he Knows how to write an action sequence to boot. His books always feel so cinematic to me and this one is no exception. Highly recommended as an introduction to what he can do or as a further read if youβve liked some of his other stories.
Iβm never disappointed by a @pdjeliclark.bsky.social story and this one was no exception. Why do I always picture Chad Stahelski-style cinematic fight sequences when I read his books? Iβm definitely not complaining!
Is the Baron (aka Homilyβs birth dad) the nest from whence Shesheshenβs clutch emerged? If soβ¦ who is Odeβs daddy?
Book club today discussed Someone You Can Build a Nest In for literally 55 minutes of our hour but we have a spoiler-y question for @wiswell.bsky.social about timelines. Is Homily or Shesheshen older, and how?
(More to the question in the next skeet so look away to avoid spoilers)
Ew. The laziness astounds me!
The cover of cinder house by freya marske with my 5 star rating at the top
A screencap of my review of cinder house by freya marske. Full text: What a pleasant surprise this one was! I donβt know what I expected, but this was such a fun, interesting take on the Cinderella tale. The pacing was perfect and I was so impressed by how much story, character development, and magic/lore the author packed into the novella format. I definitely recommend this one!
Man, I love it when a fairy tale retelling continues to surprise you until the last page, but still stays entirely within the spirit of the original. I had such a fun time with this one!

Wow.
Swiss Olympic bobsled commentator broke a century of neutrality and spent the entire run of the Israeli bobsled team recounting all the pro-genocide remarks and social media posts by Adam Edelman, one of the apartheid state athletes.
Absolute legend. More of this in sports please!
I was too off my game today to even share. Is it just me or was this harder than a medium π

A fable-created quote post from someone you can build a nest in by John Wiswell. Full text: But humans never stood up for the right thing. They stood around feeling uncomfortable, and later pretended that feeling uncomfortable meant they were virtuous.
Revisiting this delightful tale for book club this month and my, this sentiment has aged well. Shesheshen would be far from the most monstrous in 2026βs Americaβ¦
(Itβs a joy as always to read you, @wiswell.bsky.social )
Oh man, this. So much this.
