Dave has made it clear that he does pods because he has significant pain when doing extended keyboard work, so he just can't manage articles. Hence, pods and transcripts.
Add in all the other car-based businesses like repair shops and dealerships and gas stations and the drive through of Starbucks and McD’s and all the rest. Then add in all the car-specific roadways. It’s enormous and overwhelming.

The 66K acres that downtown freeways occupy could yield more than half a trillion dollars of development and over $5b annually in property taxes.
People want larger, smoother, more accessible urban infrastructure, but you have to remove the threat and obstruction of cars.

Maybe, but I think the impetus is from the utilities writ large, as it supports them as more folks produce distributed power. The utilities are looking for revenue stability in order to support all the grid hardening thay are having to do after severl disastrous wildfires...
And then there's the matter of PG&E out on the street in my neighborhood on a multi-month job to replace all the GAS service in the neighborhood, at the price of I don't know how many millions of $$. Would it not have cost less to just have electrified everyone's houses, and just shut off the gas?
yeah, I'm often more efficient than efficient houses, as I fully electrified a few years ago... So yeah, not a great deal for me...
Which, to my mind, looks a lot more like PG&E trying to maintain ascendency than trying to help its customers. Or am I missing something?

If you're paying less per kilowatt hour, then you're also being paid less per kilowatt hour that you send back to the grid, no?
Which might mean that electrifying your appliances is more cost-effective over the life of the investment (good), it also makes adding rooftop solar LESS cost-effective...
