Have to have vomit on them, because of boke.
A catalogue being held up in front of the very busy halls of Olympia, where London Book Fair is in progress. The catalogue features the cover image of Secrets of Dorley Hall by Alyson Greaves.
Of course, the highlight of this London Book Fair has to be Dorley's pride of place on the @wiltonsquare.bsky.social catalogue! π @badambulist.bsky.social
Why should I bother to read a book someone couldn't be bothered to write?
I'm at London Book Fair, and two talks were SO galvanising. Can @untold-narratives.bsky.social and @englishpen.bsky.social run some sort of workshop? Yesterday's 'Lifelines or Pipelines' panel and today's 'Whose Freedom?' one could achieve great things together, and we need more calls to action.
Someone just described polyamory to me as the "move fast and break things" of relationships, and while it may not be accurate, it is hilarious, which is more important.
If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, Iβd have two nickels, which isnβt a lot, but itβs weird it happened twice
A hand holding a black and white print of a cat licking its own arse. The cat is illustrated in a medieval style and is accompanied by the caption "Ouroboros". The image is printed on a page from a German copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
I got given someone's old German Harry Potter book, and I'm enjoying turning each page into a print of a cat licking its own arse. Considering selling these and donating everything to trans healthcare ventures for poetic justice...

Screenshot of an article headline from the BBC news website that says "Labubu to open seven UK shops, after PM's China visit". The article is tagged "politics". On the left is a picture of six Labubu dolls of varying colours.
Guys, I think we've hit peak diplomacy
I think a big thrust of a lot of my feminist work has been "Not to upturn standpoint epistemology or anything, but could y'all recognize that even marginalized perspectives will have a plurality of opinions?"
"And then, get better at recognizing the conservative bullshit instead of parroting it?"
A shadowy picture of a hand holding a piece of paper with a black and white lino print depicting a medieval-style cat licking its own arse. The caption next to it reads "ouroboros". Behind the print, other pieces of art are taped up on the wall.
Behold the ancient texts!!
(Forgive me, for I have printed once more.)
View through a window from an unlit room at night. Through the window, the sky is orangey yellow and you can see the silhouette of several trees
I don't know why but it's really yellow outside
A hand holding an unfinished crochet piece that has a zigzag pattern in red and blue yarn alternating with white yarn. The crochet piece is hanging off a long crochet hook that looks like a cross between a crochet hook and a knitting needle
An assortment of cushions on a blue-grey sofa. The first cushion is green with white flowers with a fuzzy texture, the second is a crocheted cushion with a zig-zag pattern alternating white and a yarn that transitions between blue, red and green. Behind is a velvety green cushion and a large pink cushion with multicoloured stars on it. On top of this is a crocheted heart-shaped red cushion. There is a table with plants on behind.
I started learning Tunisia crochet this year and behold: my first project, nestled among the other cushions doing its best to fit in
Getting to that existential point in January where I can't work out what else there is other than spend money, (hopefully) earn money, die
Self-own?
look upon my works, ye mighty, and let me know what you think
A copy of Tales Accursed a Folk Horror anthology defaced with a pen illustration of the Schnabelperchten.
The Schnabelperchten sat at a spotlessly clean kitchen table.
As I'm sure you're aware, the fifth of January is the day of the Schnabelperchten, a creature of Austrian folklore who will check your house for cleanliness. If they decide you haven't done a good enough job, they'll slit open your belly and fill it with straw. Happy New Year..!
I forgot that Younger was such a fun parody of the publishing industry
My Swiss mum seems unable to understand that not everyone speaks French. She put on a film in French (which my sister's boyfriend doesn't speak) and assured us it has subtitles.
They are in French.
She's taking a while to understand why this isn't a solution. She keeps saying "but he can read?"
A photo of the control panel of an elderly dishwasher. It is brown plastic, with wood panelling beneath. Above the buttons is the brand name "lady plus".
My parents have a dishwasher that they have never used in the 25+ years they've lived in my childhood home, and I've just now noticed that the brand name is Lady Plus.
"Ah yes, an automated lady to do our dishes"
I guess we have a spinning wheel now... @ceciliabennett.bsky.social and I are planning many yarn making and recycling adventures πβ¨οΈπ§΅ Pippin too, apparently
icebergs seem kinda made up
I've not said much (anything) on here about the Unbound/Boundless debacle - so many had it much worse after all - but I've been out of work since it collapsed and I would so love the opportunity to edit and bring cool books to the table again. In a company that pays authors and delivers books.
Can confirm: Willow is a lovely person that does not deserve this (not that anyone does), also her book slaps and I accidentally ghosted her for a poetry event because my workplace decided to implode and I got overwhelmed, so I feel especially bad for her
Philip Larkinβs this be the verse mangled into Ozymandias, the text reads They Oz you up, your mandyias. They may not mean to, but they do. They give you vast and trunkless legs A sunken shattered visage too. But they were Ozzed up in their turn By Mandyias upon the sand Who half the time had wrinkled lips And half in sneering cold command. Oz hands on mandyias to man. Like mighty works atop a shelf Look on them early as you can Ye mighty and despair yourself

The front cover of a cream and black coloured zine called Cat's Eyes. It features a screen with a control panel beneath it. On the screen is a cat's eye with the centre of the pupil cut out. Through the cut-out, you can see a mouse wearing an astronaut helmet
Attention zine fans! I'm doing the final bit of organising with @lyndseycroal.bsky.social to prepare for Hallowzine at the NLS from 11-4 on Sunday! Featuring this lovely story by Lyndsey, illustrated by me!

That "give me an LLM trained only on my own work so it can generate bespoke ideas for ME" idea baffles me. Part of being creative is evolving abd growing out of past versions of your creative self. Themes that interested me at 20 don't move me now. I wouldn't want them calcified in a data set
