Wonderful day ahead for 🇫🇷. Notre Dame will reopen on time, 5 years after it was gutted by fire. I was lucky enough to have visited the inside this week. It is stunning, the blanched stonework of the vaults and pillars as they would have been in medieval times

The little maps of new graves are stomach-churning but well-considered: drawing one circle per grave is a less dehumanising approach than the often-tempting minimalist alternatives (eg, drawing outlines over the areas with new graves)

It can be hard to visualise conflict without forgetting that there are actual people behind the numbers. This uses a sample of 100 people living in Zamzam

The world’s hunger watchdog warned of catastrophe in Sudan. Famine struck anyway. Here’s how the world’s hunger monitoring-and-response system is supposed to work – and why it’s not achieving its mission.

Worthy of my first post here is this thoughtfully designed explainer on the disastrous situation in Sudan by @graphics.reuters.com
