T-minus 39 days until my publish date and my book hits the shelves. Iβm so freakin nervous becauseβ¦ wellβ¦ BECAUSE!
This vid has gone viral on two other social media platforms. Itβs evoked a lot of strong feelings & Iβve received a wide range of opinions. Itβs beenβ¦ intense. Iβm grateful though, for connecting with so many human souls over the topic of life & death and the gratitude & love we feel about it all.
Itβs terrifying to see ideological swings in friends and community members who were once moreβ¦ liberal minded. Whatβs happening?!!!
So after a lot of soul searching, I have decided NOT to travel to the U.S. for book events. My American publisher supports me 100% and so for now, the Canadian distributor (Manda Group) will help me promote my book here in Canada. Iβm sad b/c I love my U.S. friends π
Also used marigold petals! π
Naturally dyed easter eggs using red cabbage, blue spirulina, butterfly pea flower, arbutus bark, onion skins and leaves from my front yard. Each year I improve a little. π₯π©΅π₯π©΅π₯
The animals I create in my mixed media collages are inspired by the old jewelry in my collection. I thrift for costume jewelry & old brooches and shiny pretty things. Currently I have a lot of metal bits that look rather medieval. Ravens always want to be the main character in my art! #collage #art
Thanks! πβ€οΈ
I collect odds & ends and bits & bobs for lighthearted whimsical collages. Usually they try to communicate my reverence for Nature and My love ofβ¦ Love β€οΈ#art
I donβt know about youβ¦but when I remember that we are all just trying to survive on this little rock that is hurtling through space at 67,000 mphβ¦ well, that freaks me out. Instead of hurting each other, I think we should be holding onto each other for dear life. #love
I had to run away from the news today. I went on one of my favourite hikes.
Set by Blue star Crafts
This tiny sketching set is perfect for carrying in my purse and whipping out on the many ferry rides I take. Iβm happiest when my hands are busy being creative. Even if itβs just my hair scrunchie.
Is he just trolling us now? Sorry, NOT sorry but Canadians will never want to be the 51st state. π¨π¦
Yes! π Totally makes sense now. Our local course is a veryyy long throw (golf island disc park- on Pender Island)
Regardless of what itβs called or where/who it comes from, they are truly beautiful & cool ears! Not sure Ive ever complimented anyoneβs ears before! πFascinating how unique & beautiful we all are.
Right?! π₯β‘οΈπ₯
Timelapse of extracting seaweed pigment & then washing it. Later, I paint with it.
Aw, this is tough. Sending good thoughts to you and your family and hoping for the best π
Update on my recent post about finding a disc golf βfrisbeeβ on the ocean floor. I posted on our local disc golf course page and the owner was found! The Innova disc belongs to a Labrador Retriever named Lucy. Whoβs the retriever now? ππΌββοΈ Happy to help a dog out #discgolf
Nice throw!
Green pigment is made from seaweed (sea lettuce). I mix this into watercolours. You can see how the pigment has faded in two years.
Anyone remember the double rainbow video, well the song remix is playing in my head.
A pair of snorkelling fins near the edge of the water on a pebbly beach. The ocean is calm and the sky is blue. On the distant horizon are other islands and a snow capped Mt.Baker. Near the fins are a snorkel and mask.
An underwater scene of a gloved hand in a neoprene wetsuit holding an algae covered orange plastic disc. The sea floor is visible in the background
An orange disc golf frisbee is being held just above the oceanβs surface. The hand is in a neoprene wetsuit glove. The disc is orange but is cracked and brittle suggesting that itβs been in the ocean a while. In the background another snorkeler is floating.
My quirk? Iβm always looking for meaning or for signs. Things to shake me awake from the mundane.
Yesterday⦠I had to choose between going snorkelling or⦠playing in a disc golf tournament. I chose to go snorkelling but can you believe what I found on the ocean floor? A disc golf frisbee! Wth?!
Close up of the peeling reddish orange bark of the arbutus tree
Hand holding a piece of bark. It is curled up and dry.
Watercolour painting on counter with paint making supplies, mortar and pestle, palette knife, glass jar, paint brush.
A watercolour painting of woodsy house held in front of the house in the actual painting.
Making watercolour pigment from the bark of the Arbutus (Pacific Madrone). This is a quick painting of my home (painted with the arbutus pigment and a few other homemade botanical paints).
Black and white cat is contentedly curled up on the table, directly on top of Joanneβs workspace and paperwork is strewn everywhere. Cat is also blocking Joanneβs use of the opened laptop. The cat is owning all the space!
Cats. Right?!
Thank you!! I really appreciate this. Iβm terrified for its release to be honest. I know I tried my bestβ¦ but Iβm full of anxiety. Is it good enough, etcβ¦ type thoughts. But Iβll get over that hopefully! π©π€ͺ
