What are folks using for functional profiling of their microbiome/shotgun metagenomics data lately? I've been using HUMAnN 3.0 for a while, and it's fine, but it's been weirdly hard to find alternatives!

Is this less of an issue with the SBDI-GTDB 16S databases?

Have not tried it with full length 16S, sorry!

have not tested this but, honestly, have been very happy with GTDB for 16S + shotgun data for human-associated studies -- cannot speak to other environments
