Of the days so far this year where you can feel the season about to change, today was that day.
With my branch of the Resonance family!
As Dexter Bentley of The Hello Goodbye Show says, “we all do it for the love and if you love what you hear, you can help keep us afloat.”
Any sum, large or small, is always welcome. Thanks for listening ❤️

After 15 years as a listener, I now find myself playing an active role with the station as a volunteer and learning new skills.
I’ll always remember the first time I heard Resonance and how my enthusiasm for it grew throughout the years…

This set me on a journey to discover how independent arts radio thrives.
Resonance is part of a global community, all about collaboration and not competition is key. It gives airtime to other European stations and festivals throughout the year.

As we returned to some normality, Resonance continued on the airwaves despite not having a permanent home.
Live broadcasts from pop-up locations offered a chance to see programmes being made as they were going out, and meet the presenters…

When the pandemic came and we were confined to our homes, Resonance gave me a lifeline and sense of sanity and freedom.
Real voices in a world where commercial radio seems contrived, the broadcasting felt personal, not homogenous…

My favourite programme has always been ‘The Hello Goodbye Show.’ It’s a bit like hanging out for the afternoon at a record store, playing music from under-the-radar artists and featuring live performances.
Again, broadening horizons…

Being an arts radio station, I began to learn of artists and projects that might’ve otherwise passed me by.
My listening experience was becoming educational, opening my mind to new ways of experiencing the world…

Those words became a bit of a mantra as I explored Resonance’s output in greater detail. So many programmes, so many voices, so much variety.
The more I listened, the more I felt it reached out in a way radio has never done so before…

The voice belonged to Harry Haward (1933-2016), fearlessly lambasting politicians with humour and heart as part of a programme called ‘Calling All Pensioners.’
“I’ve never heard anything like it,” I laughed. What station is this?

My journey with Resonance began 15 years ago, while driving across London with a friend. “You’ve got to listen to this,” he said, tuning the radio to 104.4fm.
We listened attentively as a gravelly voice played over the speakers…
