Scoop: Lord Rothermereβs DMGT, the owner of the Daily Mail, has already expressed interest in buying the Telegraph (having been a minority partner).
Lord Rothermere has long ambitions to bring together the two rightwing British newspapers.
RedBird has confirmed to the FT that it will "withdraw its bid", saying: "We remain fully confident that the Telegraph and its world-class team have a bright future ahead of them".
Which is fairly magnanimous of them considering the coverage of RedBird by the Telegraph.
