TCF1 is a master regulator of T cell stemness β but can it make exhausted cells go backwards?
We setup a CRISPR KI system to ask this question, and the answer was unexpected.

Right now, the Government is starving medical research of full funding, even as it claims that science and research are national priorities. If our leaders truly value science as much as they say, then they must back their words with actionβand fund it properly.

Check out our new paper!
Congrats @niclag.bsky.social @pzareie.bsky.social and team! π
In the media over the weekend, groundbreaking research from Peter Mac & The Doherty has uncovered a new way to enhance the immune systemβs ability to fight cancer.
Work at Peter Mac led by @JohnstoneRicky and Dane Newman. More via @australian or here: www.petermac.org/about-us/new...
Thanks Steve!
Very excited about this collaborative study between @petermaccc.bsky.social @danielutzschneider.bsky.social and Kallies lab
ID3 defines stem-like T cells with high developmental potential that sustain T cell responses to chronic infection and cancer

Very happy to share our new work!
Not sure I would be able to focus on the pubπ
Thank you to all the collaborators, including @rauschlisa.bsky.social, @ajithvasanthan.bsky.social, @bendinglab.bsky.social and everyone @thedohertyinst.bsky.social & @petermaccc.bsky.social
How could this work?
IL-1 cytokines expand ID3+ stem-like T cells in vitro, boosting their ability to sustain T cell responses in chronic infections & cancer.
This could pave the way for next-gen T cell therapies with enhanced longevity & efficacy. Exciting possibilities ahead!
ID3+ T cells in acute settings show unique stem-like features, including the ability to sustain long-term immunity and exclusively form #Tpex cells in chronic infection & cancer.
Could this improve durability in T cell therapies? We think so! π§¬
#Tpex cells are key to sustaining T cell responses to chronic infection & cancer. Can we learn from #Tpex cells, and harness stem-like T cells in acute infection to improve chronic immune responses?
Yes! T cells identified in acute LCMV expressing ID3 and LY108 shape durable therapies
Excited for our lab's FIRST paper #ScienceImmunology! π
