Like if these reports are true we are pretty much locked in for a global energy crisis! And it’s not anonymous reporting, the president is tweeting “Iran! Remove your mines forthwith!” And it’s not even on the NYT front page

It’s not like mining will change the amount of traffic through Hormuz, which will go from zero to zero, but it immediately makes the fallout global and irreversible, by ensuring that traffic remains zero for the foreseeable future. Which is why it’s odd it’s getting only moderate press attention

Anyone else have the feeling that Trump has already floated the idea of the Navy escorting tankers through Hormuz (to the Navy) and they told him no, but he can’t admit that the threat is not eliminated?

The United Nations Human Rights Council has found the deportations and transfers of Ukrainian children are large-scale and systematic in nature and are carried out as part of an organized policy of the Russian Federation. They constitute war crimes.

Hate on the Trump 1 "adults in the room" all you want, but Jim Mattis apparently stopped this war from happening in 2018 by saying, as soon as Trump left the meeting where he ordered strikes, "Gentlemen. We're not doing any of that shit."

Trump fired everyone who would have known what to do because they all kept telling him stuff he didn't want to hear like "you literally can't do this"

1/ GIFT LINK. Especially enjoy the role the Supreme Ct played. With no authority to do so and 'course no explanation of why it thought it had any, it overrode fed'l privacy laws and SSA's partitioned data structure & data-handling rules, effectively authorizing the system's breach.

5/ And on the Strait of Hormuz, they had NO PLAN. I can't go into more detail about how Iran gums up the Strait, but suffice it say, right now, they don't know how to get it safely back open.

Which is unforgiveable, because this part of the disaster was 100% foreseeable.

4/ Ok, so what ARE the goals? It seems, primarily, destroying lots of missiles and boats and drone factories.

But the question that stumped them: what happens when you stop bombing and they restart production?

They hinted at more bombing. Which is, of course, endless war.

3/ Second, they confirmed "regime change" is also NOT on the list. So, they are going to spend hundreds of billions of your taxpayer dollars, get a whole bunch of Americans killed, and a hardline regime - probably a MORE anti-American hardline regime - will still be in charge.

2/ Maybe the lead is that the war goals DO NOT involve destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program. This is, uh...surprising...since Trump says over and over this is a key goal.

But then of course we already know air strikes can't wipe out their nuclear material.

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.

I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

Only a few dozen mines have been placed so far, but Iran still has most of its mine-laying boats available and could deploy hundreds if it chooses.

That’s why I’m fighting to pass a constitutional amendment to stop it. No president, of either party, should ever be able to get away with this.

The presidential pardon was never meant to be a billion-dollar favor factory. This is a president using the most unchecked power in the Constitution to reward the wealthy, protect his allies, and erase their debts to society.

Trump’s pardons have forgiven $1.5 BILLION in criminal debts. That’s money that was owed to victims and the government.

That number comes from the conservative Cato Institute, by the way.
