It’s one of those imaginary “rules” that amateur writers are told to worry about by screenwriting gurus, but nobody in Hollywood cares.
A super fun thing to do in these times is to look up your area on that Nuke Strike site to see how you'd fare if LA was targeted. (yes, I'd be toast.)

exactly my experience. I jump into a conversation where like 10 people are saying 'never do X or they'll trash your script' and say 'I do it, my colleagues do it. Totally normal in Hollywood' and then get trolled by a bunch of butt-hurt film bros.

Petition to get rid of "female" as a descriptor in screenplay loglines. You don't have to mention that it's a "female" doctor, cop, fire fighter, scientist, etc. Those jobs have been done by women for decades now. No reason we assume gender for any profession in the year of our Lord 2026.
