I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. Itβs dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

I do my academic writing in overleaf and am looking for a good grammar checker that isn't aggressively AI (I just want to know if I missed a comma or messed up their/there/they're, etc - just the basics). Do you have one that you love or at least like? #phdsky #academicwriting #overleaf #phdwrite

The most important q: we did ravioli, tortelloni, another stuffed one that I don't remember the name of, tagliatelle, and a penne type one! The stuffing was a ricotta and spinach π€π€π€ and it was all SO good
I just wrapped up a trip to Bologna for European Conference on AI where I got to present my poster! This weekend was exactly what I needed - talking to other researchers navigating trust in their work + blue skies + a pasta class! #ecai #phdsky

I am back from my first #womENcourage conference in BraΘov, Romania! π·π΄ I am so grateful for the organizers, @acm.org, and the brilliant participants at this conference. It was so great to connect with other women in computing and discuss our research and lives! Looking forward to next year!

βHe Gave Me Confidenceβ: How Charlie Kirk Connected With Young Men With his right-wing group Turning Point USA, Mr. Kirk engaged controversial topics. Some students were inspired. Others found his views appalling.
As a Christian, he did not always feel he could say what he actually thought about the issue.
βItβs kind of scary to say what you believe in, especially in this cancel culture,β said Porter LaFeber, a 22-year-old studying sciences at Utah Valley University who was at an event on Wednesday where Mr. Kirk was killed. βCharlie Kirk seemed like he just went totally above that. He kind of gave a voice to the people that were maybe a little bit scared.β βHe gave me the confidence to be able to believe what I believe,β Mr. LaFeber added.
"Charlie Kirk gave me the courage to be more transphobic" is a wild thing to put in a both-sides hagiography

I think Stephen Graham Jones @sgj.bsky.social excels in this!
Anyways, I have no conclusion, because my brain doesnβt work as fast as Roxane Gayβs does but Iβll be thinking on this for a while.
Which my instinct is that we are more willing to see the humanity of AI systems than women and queer people as we question whether AI systems have freedom of speech, etc
As pregnant people in the US are being killed because of draconian laws and the repeal of Roe v. Wade, because they are not seen as full people independent of their reproductive organs, we are talking about how these AI systems are human-like and we engage with them like friends, partners, coworkers
But it got me thinking because in the realm of my research of AI and trust, there is a lot of discourse on the anthropomorphism of these systems and the idea that people engaging with them as if they are people. (Which is by design).
