I remember when ‘Brexit Means Brexit’ became a way for silly people to insist that they supported something they could neither justify nor explain. Obviously the context is very different, but something similar is already happening with the ‘war’ in Iran. And it’s mostly the same people doing it.

Our Armed Forces must always protect British citizens wherever they are in the world.

But tax exiles and influencers who make a living criticising the UK should contribute to the country they still expect to protect them.

Starmer needs to get on the phone to Trump and ask him to set out a plan to protect civilians and support a democratic transition in Iran.

We've seen before that bombs don't bring about democracy and regime change without a plan just leads to more chaos and suffering.

I said I hope, not that I think they will. Bennett seems to become less pro-settler (although that may just be to in the run up to the elections) & Lapid also seems quite weak on standing up to them
