Yesterday I was told that my views on upholding the Treaty aren’t valid because:
- I wasn’t born in Ao/NZ
- Māori have been given enough $$
- The Treaty has to be changed or we’ll become the US with no one challenging our constitution.
When I tried to counter these with facts I was shouted down 🫠
I stupidly read the comments on an article about the rising unemployment rate in Aotearoa. The amount of people who believe this rise is due to Jacinda/Labour beggars belief.
I was chatting all things post-menopause with a woman in her 70s today at the denture clinic. She looked me dead in the eye and said “Got to watch your breasts, they’ll end up around your knees. I’m fine because mine are small and perky”.
I’m not sure what to do with this tidbit.
Two red to orange ombré mushrooms growing in the bamboo at the Christchurch Botanical Gardens.
Saw these beauties nestled amongst the bamboo at the Botanical Gardens. They have such an Alice in Wonderland vibe!
I’ve ended up surrounded by Kiwis who want to lecture me on Australian immigration.
I’m born and raised Australian who worked for AU immigration for over 15 years.
Stay in your lane…
A screenshot of an email I received from UC telling me I’ve been awarded the UC Human Services Excellence Prize
This makes being the “old, weird, loud, fat, Australian” worth it.
A large, mostly brown mushroom growing under my indoor Hoya plant.
This is the 2nd mushroom my Hoya has sprouted. Most unusual 🤔
Is it common knowledge that only “registered exporters” can send honey (of any weight) out of Ao/NZ? I feel like the post office is making up the rules as they go, but don’t want to jump to conclusions if this really a thing.
P has a friend at synchro who is very anti having her photo taken, except if I’m taking the photo! My superpower is getting her to smile for the camera and while this is small, I’m the only person she’ll do it for. Best superpower ever 😊
I’ve ‘officially’ passed my BA!! 1st one in my immediate family to get a degree. Master’s here I come 😊
I should be finishing my exam, however, I am voting for the Bird of the Century. Time well spent.
P just convinced the lifeguard at Te Pou Toetoe to change the lane ropes so she could have a section of the big pool to herself. She is a charisma wizard 🤭
Feeling very lucky to be privileged enough that I can shut off global news because my brain feels too full.
I live in hope that one day the world will be all peace, love and mungbeans but my faith in humanity is fading.
My fridge stopped working last night 😖
Trying very hard to remain focused on being grateful that I have the $$ to get a new one (with some quick shuffling of priorities) and friends to help me with the heavy lifting, rather than focusing on this is the last thing I need to deal with right now.
I sneezed 7 times in a row today and I’m pretty sure I saw through space and time 🤣 Ōtautahi is beautiful in Spring but oy vey the pollen!
Kitty, a chonky tabby cat asleep on the chair.
I now have to take Kitty to the vet to get them to put on his Bravecto. I asked the vet if there is flea tablet I can give him instead (we have no problems with tablets) Vet told me flea tablets have been discontinued because cats don’t like tablets. Of course Kitty is the exception to this rule.
