WWE suspended Drew McIntyre as he is filming a new movie. The suspension was the kayfabe reason creative came up with to cover the absence.

SmackDown General Manager suspended McIntyre after attacking a referee last Friday.

Per Sean Ross Sapp, its introduction was a "hastily made decision" following Chelsea Green and Michin's non-title feud.

When the US Title was born, it was with "no significant creative plans."
