Not really. Everyone I talked to is really fine with either one. The main argument is "electability", which sucks, and everyone hates both Cornyn and Paxton more.

Lots of people say it's no surprise that a bland entry into a crowded market was doomed to fail, but that's not the surprise.

It's why they chose to do it in the most calculatedly mediocre way possible when they were clearly capable of so much more.

Like, literally. EVERY aspect of what made TF2 and Apex (early seasons 1-5ish) great: engaging story, interesting characters, great movement and gunplay, the sense of beating impossible odds, making the most of random situations and opportunities, all great factors in gameplay that just vanished.

No surprise that Highguard is shutting down. What is surprising is how the people that did so brilliantly with Titanfall 2 and Apex decided to seemingly abandon all the brilliant things they did and produce something that didn't play to the strengths of either game.

I've been living in Texas for 33 years and never made time to stop by. It's a bit cooler (literally and figuratively) than I was expecting. Yes, there's bad aspects of independence we don't need to get into, but the archeology efforts and preservation efforts are really neat.
