Trying to do my part in the US South with a sweet partner and funny little dog. Political science prof at a small university, but it won’t take long to realize the views in my posts are my own.

It’s similar to “this thing is shiny and new”

RIP to your phone contacts, but I get this. You’ll never have to worry about the situation that my mother found herself in when our newly remarried cousin came to visit with his wife and my mom called us kids to the house by hollering from the porch for us to “come see Tommy and (ex wife’s name).”

I only know her from her work at Media Matters. Where can I find info about her supporting Republicans?

I’ve had good luck in cities I’m unfamiliar with by putting the attractions filter on Google Maps. Even free historical markers or cool sites on your walk.

I get this isn’t exactly what you’re asking for, but I’ve also found cool shops because they’re near a landmark I wanted to see.

I’m sure the majority of DC residents weren’t thrilled about the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and wanted his opponent to win while all the people who pay membership to Mar-A-Lago feel differently. This is so embarrassing.

I remember being weirded out when Florida State joined in ‘91. Schools being close enough for students and families to be able to drive to games used to be part of the fun. Georgia Tech to Maryland was the furthest distance.

The people emailing him after he got of jail for sexual predation saying “I sure do miss my friend who was always so good about hooking me up with hot girls. 🥺”

Did it take until 2025 to realize that you were not making the effective changes you intended? Also, how can you take the “I’m a principled R advocating a specific platform” in multiple threads only to now say party affiliation doesn’t correlate to principles.

I’m a registered Dem and participate in my county party. I have served on committees that have worked on resolutions that are either adopted or rejected to the state platform. As you said, being a party member gives one influence over said platform. So did you work on the R platform or not?

I miss the 90s because now everything has become so partisan milk hotel.

2025?!?!?

Then too bad farmers keep voting for the party of corporate ownership that also is dismantling the social safety net.

The party of abolition? I stand corrected, but you may be surprised by what the Rs have been up to since 1865. I encourage you to look at their policy prescriptions in the years following the Civil War with particular attention to policies since 1980.

Yes, unlike Bush and Reagan’s endless wars. You can take the man out of the Republican Party, but you can’t take the goal-post-moving rudeness out of the man. Hope you get your women-subjugating, social-safety net destroying racism party back without all those unprofitable tariffs. Good luck to ya!

Oh. You said you have always been a Never Trump R because he represented a break from trad R values. I asked what values besides tone, and you said he was for no foreign wars. I recognize character limits are challenging, but I wasn’t reflecting anything you didn’t say.

10.03.2026 17:33 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Trump ran on no more foreign wars so you didn’t support him? Looks like you got your war after all

10.03.2026 17:27 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

The only substantive change to the Republican platform in 2016 was to withdraw support for free trade, but looking at Republican politics since the NAFTA was signed, that is hardly breaking with orthodoxy.

Again, other than tone, how would the tax cut bill in 2017 have been different?

Which of Trump’s policies do Republicans not support? Other than tone, what didn’t you like about Trump in 2015?

Do you think there is a difference between dropping bombs and preventing a UN Security Council resolution that would put UN peacekeepers on the ground to stop the missiles from dropping?

I had a student who had never heard of Alfred Hitchcock and she said she liked old movies. And yes, all the old movies she liked were from the 80s.
