Loving this platform so far! Because Iβm now in a good mood, sharing some winter light on the Rockies
Early morning sunlight breaking through the dense cloud cover and casting a warm glow on Rocky Mountain National Park on a cold February morning. π©΅ #photography #rockies #stunday

Just the kind of morning I like.
Dissipating morning fog in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Standing like ancient sentinels dotting the sides of the lofty White Mountains, Californiaβs majestic bristlecone pines thrive in one of North Americaβs most inhospitable, yet uniquely beautiful environments. These ancient trees are the oldest in the world, some reaching over 4,500 years of age. Their twisted, gnarled growth forms stand as noble testaments to the bristlecone's ability to thrive in the harsh, high alpine conditions found above 10,000 feet in elevation on some of California's tallest mountains. The one-of-a-kind landscape, complete with unbelievable views of the magnificent Sierra Nevada Crest to the west, is easily accessible and makes a great adventure for sightseers of all ages. Bristlecone pines display one of nature's grandest examples of species diversity, and each tree has its own unforgettable character. As dense branches or trunks are replaced by new growth, the wind, ice and snow scour and polish the wood to a smooth, bone-like texture. Some resemble ornate crowns, while others form awe-inspiring spires that reach into the sky. Via Mammoth Lakes, California β at Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest

Thanks Jackson! Did you live in Big Pine?
Compressing the Owens Valley, bristlecone ridge and looming Sierra
Thank you, Leah!
Thanks Ian! Your work is fantastic. I suspect I found your Instagram from NLPA, but I can't remember for sure
Β‘Gracias!
Thanks Rob!
Autumn at the Owens
I only appear grumpy in written form. In person I'm a ray of sunshine
I've now seen a second image of a Milky Way arch, Aurora, a meteor, airglow, etc. They're both images about everything and nothing at the same time.
That's a low tripod!
That tower is now happily within the lake

Outstanding work! Definitely worth the lack of sleep and broken windshield
I miss home (this is 10 minutes from home in November, and I'm currently in the Bay Area for a teaching job)
