As the afternoon sun settles over Iraq, I’m reminded once again why I chose orthopedics restoring motion, relieving pain, and giving people the freedom to live fully.

As a military personnel proudly serving with UNICEF, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the critical role orthopedic surgeons play in restoring mobility and hope. From treating trauma injuries to correcting congenital conditions, especially in crisis zones where every step toward healing matters.

I keep seeing videos of people thanking ChatGPT for helping them graduate.
ChatGPT can help with a lot of things, but it can’t help you ruck up a mountain or dig an IED out of the ground.
There is no worse feeling than being woken up for fire guard an after you fall asleep.
On a scale of “Old Guard” to “Special Operations” how good is your marching?
If I were a bar owner in DC, I’d offer a free drink to every Soldier who came in after the parade
The NCO Corps. Other countries wish they had ours.
The obvious thing to do at a bar full of older GWOT veterans is put “Party in the U.S.A,” on the jukebox.
It’s a public service, really.
I was today years old when I learned that the term BRAT (as in Military Brat) is an acronym from the British military.

The more you know.
My conspiracy theory is that AI videos aren’t real and there is just a giant studio lot somewhere in the world where actors quickly put on 15 second skits in front of green screens to keep the illusion alive.
Here’s your reminder to take the vacation time you’ve earned. I started some leave today. I have an awesome First Sergeant and Executive Officer who can hold down the fort.
In EOD the 1,000lb club is known as going to the demo range.
One of the coolest parts about working on an Air Force Base is the fighter jets taking off right over the main road on the ride into work.
The day you stop smiling when you see that is the day it’s time to hang it up.
The weather is just right. Can’t miss the opportunity
The keynote speaker at EOD Memorial Ceremony this year was the Sergeant Major of the Army.
Although it rained nearly the whole ceremony, He gave a great speech about the EOD family and community, training, and enabling the force to meet the needs of the mission.
The early Global War on Terror was an interesting time to be deployed, because sometimes you would go on days long missions and other times you would play StarCraft in a giant LAN party.
Now that the Standing Power Throw is dead, the Army will have to figure out what to do with all those ten pound balls.
EOD had the same problem when the Global War on Terror ended.
Tonight was the unofficial start of the annual EOD weekend. I saw friends and classmates I haven’t seen in years. I saw Gold Star Families and EOD techs playing with their kids. I saw a community that most people in the military long for.
Best job I’ve ever had
Watching Soldiers reenlist, promote, and succeed in the Army is, hands down, the best part of this job.
Celebrate your people. Build a winning culture. Promote excellence.
Valor awards, no matter what they are, should be the highest in the order of precedence on a uniform.
My son found my CD collection from high school and unironically asked if we could buy a record player to listen to them.
I guess this is growing up.
Guys, I don’t know how old you think I am, but shaggy, ice-T and Morgan Freeman aren’t from the younger generation
Does anyone else miss the view of the night sky on deployment when there was zero light pollution?
