ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose ‘targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

I read the “Save America Act,” so you don’t have to. Most of the media apparently *hasn’t* read it because, if they had, they would be sounding the alarm about the provision in Point 1, below, which almost none of them have even mentioned. I hope this summary helps raise awareness. 1/

I would counter that it's different for design work as opposed to other areas those agencies contract out. I bet you dimes to dollars that graphic design position listed degree requirements when the agency hired them. I would be very surprised if they didn't.

Just a caveat on search engines - take care concerning the AI slop in search engine returns these days. Important to verify what you find in some other way and not rely on AI-generated summaries or answers.

So much of that is really dependent on the work you're doing. If it's a separate deliverable, that's one thing. If it's collaborative work or more group focused, that's another. Very important to know your craft and industry to make good decisions about a situation.

Probably not. The silos between design areas are so compartmented now - even broken into front-end and back-end designers. Without a traditional GD degree or endorsement, I doubt they'd even consider me. Don't forget, the uni here pumps out GD grads yearly and they work cheap.

A1) I've never worked at an agency. Not that I really pursued it though. Most of my "design" education has been self-taught and trial and error. Not the kind of thing HR wanted to see back in the day. Of course, it's not like they had real coursework for web design, etc...

There are more instances of United States Citizens being detained by ICE than there are of illegal immigrants voting in elections.
