The number of people detained by ICE rose by an astonishing 58% (25,200) between 2025 and 2026; expanded immigration detention accounts for virtually all of the growth in mass incarceration since our last report. www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/pie2...
Hey all, if you have the capacity to help out two Minnesota families who are struggling, this is a great way to do it.
🎙️New episode of Infectious Dose is live.
And this is such an important conversation.
I’m joined by biomedical researcher @mark-ungrin.bsky.social to talk about something we don’t discuss enough:
What happens when scientific errors become institutional policy.

😐
The only reason it feels like that in Saint Paul/Minneapolis is because ICE agents are busy terrifying the Suburbs/Exurbs and places further afield more intensely.
e.g., Willmar, Mankato, Chanhassen, Winona etc.

I’m doing my very best, Helen!
This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.
Screenshot of a news article from The Post titled “Repeatedly getting Covid doesn’t build immunity, ‘it’s more like accumulating damage’,” written by Melanie Earley of RNZ and dated March 10, 2026. Below the headline is a portrait of leading vaccinologist and associate professor Dr Helen Petousis-Harris, shown facing the camera against a dark background. The article discusses how repeated COVID-19 infections may cause cumulative harm rather than building lasting immunity.
"Leading vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris says there's not enough awareness of the impact of COVID-19 on overall health."
"What many people don't realise is that getting COVID repeatedly is not like building immunity, it's more like accumulating damage," she says.

That’s awful. I hope it truly was not a credible threat.
Scientific Shot of a Peacock mantis shrimp eyes which are the most advanced in the animal world. Photo by Daniel Sasse.
the mantis shrimp has 16 types of color receptors.
humans have 3.
we see roughly 10 million colors and think that's impressive.
the mantis shrimp is sitting there processing a visual reality so hyperchromatic that scientists genuinely aren't sure what it's like to be one.

Today is the sixth anniversary of the purposeful attack that led to my Covid infection & subsequent development of Long Covid.
One short interaction whose violence has yet to end.
Please, if you have the means, consider supporting this goal.

Most excellent thread.
Mycosis-related deaths in Sweden have grown by an average of 19% per year since 2019 in the total population
- among 0-4 year old children, the 2024 level exceeds that of the total population
- ICD-10 codes B44-B49

Two things: constant reinfections with Covid lead to massive increase in alcohol intolerance across populations and it’s a luxury expense that few can afford now.
This is no healthy sober lifestyle shift.
Your regular reminder that we still need a hell of a lot of help in Minnesota. Things are still pretty dire. Easier in some regards, harder in others.

Oh and also it applies to the “north of Ireland” - also a republic famously apolitical with absolutely no history of suppression followed by hard won emancipation.
Okay in a completely bonkers timeline that made my day!
THIS. If you’re in central Glasgow tonight please close your windows; if you have to be out please wear the best mask you have available. If you can smell it, you’re at risk.
The point of travelling is not to impose your values on your hosts. If you’re a travelling white American, yeah it matters to a lot of folks out there these days whether you directly contributed, by voting, to the cruelty and destruction that your country’s regime enacts globally right now.
I view this as akin to going into someone else’s home and because you walk around in your own home pantless you do so in theirs. As a traveller why would you have this sense of entitlement that you are owed feeling comfortable? 1.
Minnesotans still need your help, folks. (I figure anyone following me knows this, but . . . I remind anyway. Spread the links around.)
Slowly but surely getting there. I hope I get to see one of these guys for real someday.
