The most practically powerful thing most of us can do to positively affect world affairs no create cooperative community where we live.

Even if Trump and every one of his cronies went to prison tomorrow we’d still be left with the work of building something new to replace the old.

And it has to come from the neighborhood level, with political and economic power grounded in real human to human connection.

Would love to hear thoughts on specific careers or vocations in which multi-passionate people tend to thrive.

Or the names of ICE agents.

Motivation:

As outlined in the Electoral Working Group Recommendation Electoral Working Group Steering Committee’s Recommendation for Endorsement of Katie Wilson, while the candidate identifies as a socialist, Katie Wilson does not fulfill the minimum standards of endorsement as passed by the chapter.

Members of Seattle DSA are united in opposing Bruce Harrell. Everyone on Local Council who lives in Seattle will, themselves, be voting for Katie Wilson in the election. Because of this, it may seem strange to oppose an endorsement. However, our member-approved endorsement process is far beyond β€œwe are voting for this person”.

Seattle DSA is committed to building independent political power. We aspire, in short, to be an organization that operates like a political party. Political parties share data between campaigns. They expect their candidates to endorse other candidates within that political party. Katie Wilson has articulated clearly, in the process of seeking Seattle DSA’s endorsement, that she refuses to commit to these things.

While we are willing to be lenient with an endorsement request by a candidate with minor differences with the chapter, it is the opinion of the Local Council that the political differences between Katie Wilson and the chapter are so significant and numerous that they are frankly disqualifying for a candidate seeking our endorsement.

These differences include the following:

Not committing to endorse other DSA electeds, or to meet regularly with the Socialists in Office Committee.

Not committing to support the platform of the chapter if elected.

Not committing to supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.

Not committing to end or reduce sweeps of homeless people in Seattle, beyond a stated preference for β€œsweep alternatives”.

Not committing to reduce the current record-high budget of the Seattle Police Department.

Not giving a clear vision for her future office’s relationship with DSA if elected.

Accusing DSA of being β€œself-marginalizing” in relevance within Seattle politics for not issuing an endorsement of the campaign.

Refusing to draw any distinction as a candidate between herself and the Democratic Party.

In addition, Transit Riders Union sent an email encouraging its members to join Seattle DSA for the purpose of supporting Katie Wilson’s endorsement. While we appreciate a call to join DSA, our bylaws specifically prohibit entryism, meaning any coordinated attempt by an outside group to join our chapter for the express purpose of influencing its internal democracy.

We look forward to working together with Katie Wilson when she wins the office of the Mayor, especially toward a member-approved ballot initiative to provide free childcare to Seattle. However, these things being true cannot get us past the fact that Katie Wilson does not meet the endorsement requirements that the members of Seattle DSA voted for.

In solidarity,

Seattle DSA Local Council

No matter how dark and sordid things may seem at times, never give up your vision of how beautiful life on Earth could be.

How truly magical, and full of love and synchronicity and joy.

Who else is excited for there to be zero consequences for this new completely damning release of evidence linking Trump to the Epstein trafficking operation?

The Plano, Texas City Council effectively just voted to end public transportation in the city.

Two council members in particular, Julie Holmer and Steve Lavine, definitely know better and it’s disappointing to see them revert to such NIMBY behavior.

True or false?

If we had a national referendum right now on banning corporate money from politics it would win and it wouldn’t even be close.

It's easy and understandable to get caught up in the maddening insanity of the daily news recently, but much better for one's self, and much better for everyone to stay focused on the creative endeavors that will soon make all of that irrelevant.

You know that clichΓ© about how every Republican accusation is actually a confession?

Well, Peter Thiel is currently on a bender accusing other people of being the antichrist.

We really should be calling this weekend’s protest β€˜No Billionaires’.

It’s precise, and has a precise demand.

Every time I see a video of someone getting kidnapped by ICE I think of my college friend Tony who is a nice person personally but who now works for Palantir and is in complete denial about his role in all of it.
