No. This is somewhere to be. This is all you have, but it's still something. Streets and sodium lights. The sky, the world. You're still alive.

Conferences are for science, but they are also for catching up with old friends. Nice to see these and so many others at #CNS2026
Conference poster with title "schema-related memory effects are differentially modulated by age and memory performance"
If you're at #CNS2026 and interested in aging, schemas and episodic memory, check out Sophie O'Reilly's poster tomorrow 8-10am (D71)
Xuan Zhang D52, the effects of event segmentation on temporal organization of free recall using staged events. Erik Wing D83 Environment and expertise shape spatiotemporal variation in conceptual knowledge. Lei Zhang D79 Theta-mediated conceptual reinstatement in vmPFC precedes perceptual reinstatement in ventral visual cortex during memory recall.
Come see our posters #CNS2026. All three are on session D Monday morning. Fantastic works from Xuan Zhang with @brianlevine.bsky.social, Dr. Erik Wing with @drjenryan.bsky.social and Dr. Lei Zhang with Dr. Claude Alain.
If you're at #CNS2026 and interested in aging & memory, come see @emilyedavis.bsky.social's poster on implicit associative memory tomorrow at 8am (#63)
Check this ππ½ out if youβre interested in brain resilience & aging. #cns2026 @cogneuronews.bsky.social
And last is a late-breaking poster presenting an EEG neurofeedback paradigm by Husna Kider and Vada Mayle (E40):
Catching Alpha in the Act: A Closed-Loop EEG Paradigm
This is a fun new direction for the lab, premised on controlling subjects' brain states before the memory tasks even start!
We left Monday morning open in case you...had too much fun celebrating @theamygdaloid.bsky.social's George Miller Prize!
You should be recovered in time for 2 more great posters.
First, Xinhao Wang examines color representation:
Linguistic Scaffolds Shape the Reconstruction of Visual Memories
Next, on Sunday morning Ricardo Morales-Torres dips his toes into the cognitive neuroscience of aging:
High-Level Visual Representations Drive Memory Errors in Older Adults (B58)
Visual memory errors in older adults are strongly driven by semantic/high-level visual representations!
Also Saturday afternoon is Weijia Cao's analysis of Hippocampal and cortical coding of relational memory types
This poster (A73) follows from our recent focus on relational semantics (see bsky.app/profile/wood..., and also an encoding model approach from @gallantlab.org bsky.app/profile/gall...)
Hey #CNS2026, a fun set of posters for you to check out from the Mnemology Lab!
Kicking it off Saturday morning is Maxi Becker's Datablitz (how German!):
Neural mechanisms of insight: nonlinear cortical representational change
This won her the CNS Postdoc Fellowship Award!
(also Poster A67)

New paper from the lab now out online! @changrun-huang.bsky.social asked whether people use informative pre-cues to up-regulate cognitive control in the spatial Stroop task. Surprisingly, they do not, and we rule out some possible reasons why. Enjoy!
Good to see journalists scrutinizing βThe Edge Network,β an intellectual circle of academic men who think that women are inherently inferior to men.

I reviewed 5+ fMRI papers on response inhibition within roughly the last year, and the same points come up over and over again. So I wrote a short note last week entitled "The unique limitations of BOLD-fMRI in the study of response inhibition". You can read it here.
