Review by Lee Murray for A Fragile Thing. On the right, cover of A Fragile Thing, image of a pocket watch hanging on a chain and misty street.
On the left, the blurb:
One of the most versatile and talented horror writers of our day, Stephanie Ellis shines again, this time with A Fragile Thing, a darkly chilling novel of madness, mind games, and manipulation. Channelling Jekyll and Hyde in Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel, where science and spiritualism seduce the upper classes and the streets stink of nightwalkers and nightcrawlers, ambitious Isaac Bercow attempts to root out the shadowy manifestations that plague his own psyche. Blurring the lines between illusion and reality, one thing is clear, Ellis dangles our darkest fears before us with mesmerising skill.”—Lee Murray, five-time Bram Stoker Award®-winning author of Grotesque: Monster Stories

Thanks Gabino!

I'm especially mad about the horrors of white Christian Nationalism today, so would love it if more people read Tradwife and got (constructively) angry with me

(*possibly I mean "destructively," but why split hairs...?)

This doesn't mean we would nuke your story for shitposting or anything like that! The clause was meant to weed out bad actors - and it has done in the past, ahead of publication.

This is the first and hopefully last time we've had to enforce it post-publication and it fucking sucks to be honest.

24.02.2026 21:04 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

For those curious, the clause basically says that we reserve the right to remove pieces from past anthologies (or refuse the offer to publish) if a contributor displays abusive or harmful behaviour to individuals or online communities.

Or the "anti-arsehole" clause if you like.

If you see any of our paperbacks/ebooks temporarily unavailable for sale this week, it's because we've decided to make a minor change to some lineups after enacting a contract clause re. harmful behaviour toward the writing community.

Not something we ever thought we'd have to do, but here we are.

Silk and Foxglove anthology, a BIPOC erotic eco-horror anthology, with a collaged artwork of a red circle, a dragonfly, and a sensual rear end!

Silk and Foxglove anthology, a BIPOC erotic eco-horror anthology, with a collaged artwork of a red circle, a dragonfly, and a sensual rear end!

Due to the sudden closure of the small press publishing our anthology, we're looking for a new home!

"Silk and Foxglove" is a BIPOC anthology of 13 stories of erotic-eco-horror! It's weird, gorgeous, evocative, & unnerving as hell!

Please boost! If any small presses are interested, let me know!

It's Monday, edits for SMT are going nicely (only a couple more to go!) and the cover art has been mostly resurrected.

Time to start thinking about locking in a release date, I reckon.

Arley's "By the Numbers" columns as well as his articles, discussions during panels, and overall contributions to the necessary conversations about the experiences of people of colour in the publishing industry, particularly genre fiction, are an invaluable resource and deserve a ton of support

Drafting tomorrow's newsletter with my brain half-slushed & somehow I decided it would be a good idea to post an excerpt of my floofy romance AND a chunk of a story draft.

Will it be confusing? I hope not.

The move to Proton for our email provider seems to be going well (despite a couple of hiccups attributed solely to me being a bit dim)!

Just a reminder that we'll be emailing from Proton from now on, but you can still use the gmail for a bit if you need to (and the contact form on our website too).

Amusing that on this, the 5th or 6th iteration of the cover art, I've managed to align the title logo within a few pixels of its previous position like muscle memory's kicked in or something.
