Fertilizers Europe calls on all stakeholders to work hand in hand with EU institutions to develop evidence-based policies to boost Europe’s strategic autonomy on food and fertilizers.

A competitive European industry is essential to ensure 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 of high‑quality fertilizers for farmers, and to safeguard Europe’s 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆.

It is not the implementation of CBAM but the mixed messages and confusion around the mechanism that brought unpredictability and had a destabilising effect on the market.

🔎 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗕𝗔𝗠-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.
Recent analyses show that the effect of CBAM on final fertilizer prices is 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 indicated. Farmers are under multiple cost pressures, but the appropriate response is 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, not suspending CBAM.

📊 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲.
Between December 2024 and December 2025, Europe recorded a 𝟭𝟰𝟬% 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀, among highest ever recorded. Underrepresenting these volumes risks creating a misleading picture of the European fertilizers market.

Through the Antwerp Call to Action, industry is urging EU leaders to adopt a targeted package of Emergency Industrial Policy Measures - decisive steps to restore investment certainty, reinforce Europe’s production base, and close the competitiveness gap:

The time for diagnosis has passed. Europe now needs swift action.

More than 500 business leaders and 30 factory workers stood alongside European political leaders, and their message could not be clearer:
